the left lane is for passing... :FYI smiley hence why its called the passing lane.
You should be given this ticket right across Canada IMO... you certainly would get a similar ticket in most of Europe.
Passing on the right is simply not safe and is in many cases unexpected by other motorists.

But what if there is an ass driving slow in the left lane? how else am i going to Pass?
Was the other guy ticketed for going to slow?

Well from the other thread that you made...about street racing....i have nothing to say to this ticket because who knows what you were doing and how fast you were going etc, just pay the ticket and be done with it, obey the rules of the road and stop complaining when you get caught breaking the law

This just shows your immaturity and ignorance, especially with the inappropriate comment. I'm sure the cop was thinking the same thing regarding how you were driving.
Learn a little and maybe you wouldn't be asking such dumb questions. Also, slow down and maybe, just maybe, you won't hurt yourself or anyone else in the process.

constant driving in the left is prohibited as well.
If there is moron driving for 10 min in the left lane with 100km/h I wanna see you trying not to pass through the right lane when you need to drive another 500km to your destination point.
I am not here to argue who thinks what. opinions like different body parts, everybody got one.
My question was about legal assistance in Quebec. Nothing more nothing less.

Really? You can get a ticket for passing someone that's on a left lane? That's news to me.
Thanks for the heads up. I'll make sure not to do that in Quebec and sorry I couldn't be of any help.

In Quebec you can go 60km/h on the highway without getting a ticket.
But I agree, its not common to get a ticket and not safe either to pass. Seek help IMO

Yep, I didn't know that either. It appears to me that it's not only Quebec province ;)

Dont quote me on this but i believe there is a way to fight that ticket in toronto. Id talk to a paralegal here first they may know the answer. Its like a distance trial or somthing.

Albeit convenient, that doesn't seem like a very effective way to contest a ticket. =O

I talked to two different paralegals in ON and the answer was the same. I should get lawyer from Quebec.
I have contacted few lawyers in Quebec. They promise to fight for the points and extend the trial process from 1 to 2 years.
Which is fine with me. This ticket will be on my record for 3 years if I am right. if they take down couple of years it works for me.
Will let you know how it goes.

The 3 years on your record starts from the point of conviction, so even if your trial takes place in 2 years and you get convicted...the 3 years start from there

Don't use a Quebec leagal service. I went to school in Quebec, and I got a ticket (130km/h in a 100 zone) Since I didn't speak the language and this was in rural Quebec I paid $500 to a lawyer and he got the ticket dropped to 119km/h and no points, but still had to pay the $195 fine. I later found out that the chance of my Ontario insurance company finding out about the ticket was slim to none.
I got another ticket, busted doing snow drifts and was charged with "dangerous driving" and I paid the ticket and my insurance never went up. I may be lucky, but I'd say just pay the ticket.
If you want to fight it, fight it. Request all corospondance in english and hope and pray the mess up. If they you request english and they provide you with a french judge you may be able to get it tossed. Just photocopy EVERYTHING you send them! Quebec is ass backwards so be warned!
Don't flush your money down the drain with a lawyer. Either fight it yourself or pay the ticket...best of luck though.

and more specifically, according to the MTO
"Drivers convicted of a driving related offence in the State of New York, the State of Michigan or any Canadian province or territory, will have home jurisdictional penalties such as demerit points and/or suspensions applied to their Ontario driver record as if the offence occurred in Ontario."
