Ok so I just got an Axela Badge from a member here on the forums. I will need to get 3M tape but is there a certain kind that i need to get? Also whats the best way to measure the distance so that the Axela badge is properly in place and in the same spot as the Mazda badge? Sorry if these are all newbie questions, first time doing this.

Perfect! Thanks cwp. What about when you put it on, do you just eye it?
EDIT: Also, how often should i replace the tape or will it stay strong for years to come?

Crappy Tire has molding-tape specific in the auto section. I would use that over the general purpose one because the moulding-specific one is thinner.
Make sure you carefully strip off any of the old adhesive on the badge, otherwise it may not stick properly.
Eyeball the position. But if it's easier, you can always use painters tape from the "Mazda" emblem and run it across the hatch/trunk lid.
If done correctly, it should last a long time (if not forever)
TIP - if you plan on painting or plastidipping it - you should do that now before affixing it to the car.

If you want to be precise, measure the distance of the Mazda badge from the bottom of the trunk and the from the outside going in.
Then match up those measurements with painters tape on the right side (Where you're taping the Axela emblem).
It gives a better approximation than to eye-ball it.
Gd luck! (Sometimes eyeballing will result in a slant lol)

this won't help you, but for others who buy a brand new axela badge, the there is a plastic film stuck over the badge that is cut out in the shape of the trunk lid so that all you had to is line it up to the trunk lid as it's a template ;)
afterwards, you peel it off of course and nobody thinks about saving it in case they took the badge off later to sell
people look at me funny when I keep crap like this and later see they come in handy lol

I'll vouch for the 3m tape also but the only issue I have is that it does look bulkier then normal and its annoying to cut perfectly.
I ended up buying some emblem tape from GM since I have a friend who works there. It works just as good without the bulk :)
