They say I'm an addict but I don't have a problem with alcohol or drugs. I'm an addict because I can't live without bass. Car audio is my addiction. And it will never change.

So this finally went through. I know this was discussed a while ago but damn. Technically that means I can't even use my ipod to listen to music.

This is the best news I've heard in a long time! Fark'n people on their cells!!

But some of you guys are getting the wrong idea; aslong as it's hands free it's fine, using your GPS or having your stereo going or using a hands-free cell phone will be okay....according to what I've heard and read.

By the way anyone notice the Blue Mz3 hatch in the video clip?

I always use a bluetooth anyway. Holding a phone and driving manual is just downright dangerous.

As long as thats not limited..and I'm allowed to use my ipod to play music I'm okay.

Honestly, i'm very happy that people can't hold a phone and drive now, too many people do it and these people cant' drive for jack.

"there are reports it will prohibit all use of phones, BlackBerrys and GPS devices by drivers in this province, with the possible exception of hand's-free devices"

According to the line above, they would also ban GPS.

I would actually prefer they ban eating, applying make-up & reading. Those are more distracting then the GPS.

I support this law; Driving is not an automatic process. It's something you have to pay attention for.

Mythbusters did a test to see how dangerous it is to drive with various distractions. While it's a limited test, it turns out that it's more dangerous for someone to drive while talking on a cell phone than it is for them to drive while drunk.
There is a theory which states that a billion monkeys pounding on a billion keyboards will eventually produce the works of Shakespeare.

Thanks to the Internet, we now know this theory is wrong.

there also saying that they are banning ipods so now you can't even listen to the radio....i guess the newer cars now are going to eliminate the AUX input in the cars since you cant listen to anything anymore.

Are we forgetting about all the other distractions that are not technology based?

    Smoking
    Eating / drinking
Checking your hair / adding makeup
    Pets
    Other people

Arguably some are worse than others, but if we are on the way of making laws to ban any distractions....

It seems more and more as time goes on that we now have to pass laws to make up for people's lack of common sense....
Texting wil driving 100km/h on the highway
Smoking in confined areas with small children
    the list goes on.

GPS has to be MOUNTED...as long as it's not handheld as in outdoor/iPhone/BlackBerry GPS, then it's ok...

    using your iPod/iTouch is banned...

the way I see it, ppl should be driver-tested while they're on the handsfree...if they can't pass that, they shouldn't be given a license...think about it...

They should ban having a wife in the car (without a muzzle).. can't count the number of times where I have been severely distracted by the constant talking

lol... if your partner is this bad, make her ride the rocket or your rocket. Both will keep her from talking to you

Seems so, though it may be a case of the spirit of the law getting enforced, even though the letter of the law says otherwise. It's one time officer's discretion actually helps solve a problem

It's about time; I'm totally for this. I see people make bad moves all the time on the road or drive way too slow on the highway while talking on the phone.

Hell, just last week on the DVP I saw some lady in a white mz3 talking on the phone. No turn signal, she just switches lanes and pushed a guy in Vdub off the road. When everything settled down, I pulled up next to her and she's just smiling her a$$ off talking away on a cell.

I have to agree with a lot of the other posts. There are still lots of distractions in the car. I just saw a lady burning a hoolie in the car behind me in the garage today. Yes, she was driving...

They need a new G classification where they test to see if you can talk and drive.
I don't see a difference between talking to your passenger and on the cellphone.
If you are dialing on your cell phone or SMSing that is a different story.
