Why is cross-border shopping so popular? Because consumer prices are cheaper.
Why are consumer prices so high in Ontario? Because business operations costs are so high.
Why are business operation costs so high?
Why should we support local businesses when our own government won't?

SOME slip through the cracks??? The whole driving test system we have now is one big crack...I ask myself how someone got their license a minimum of 15 times a day no exaggeration...we all drive in Toronto, we have seen it. There needs to be a huge reform of our driver licensing system. In my opinion it should be a harder test, there should be mandatory re-testing every 5-10 years or something like that, and there should be a mandatory winter driving training course.

good as it should be. I seriously don't understand why they haven't done this yet...with all the other ways they come up with to take our money, why not just legalize things like weed and prostitution. If it is legal, and you are purchasing these items or services from approved vendors they can tax both the purchase of it, and the income from the sale of it. They can license prostitutes, considering they already have Adult entertainment licenses that strippers are required to have (and have to get a police background check) It would make the purchase of these services safer for the customer, and the transaction safer for the seller. They know people pay for these things anyways legal or not...why not just legalize it and tax it...and then ticket or fine places doing it illegally.

LOL - implement a horny tax
To me - an Entertainment license for strippers or taxes on prostitution is just a cash grab.
If people want to pay to get off - what's the issue? Why is it illegal?
I would tend to agree...but at the same time I wouldn't have an issue with it. If a prostitute was a legal profession, they could implement health and safety policies, the girls could have a safe place such as a licensed and registered brothel with clean rooms. Regular health tests would be required, and I would assume there would have to be some sort of screening process for the customers as well.
But at least people could go get their rocks off without worrying that some undercover cop will roll up on them and charge him with something, and charging her with soliciting sex, and living off the avails of prostitution.

Still torn if this is a good thing or a bad thing....
Either way - he's an iconic figure that changed the world as we see it.

That is the average price.
Provided one is willing to live in a non-popular neighbourhood/area and willing to deal with renos, one can find a detached house below that price.

Until RE market crashes and your million dollar mortgage is now worth 1/3 of what you paid
Canadian dream.
My parents neighbour sold their neglected home in Scarborough for $700K (bidding war)
Detached 1400 sqft - in the Morningside and Shepard area. House needs new roof, and HVAC. The windows are the original single pane from 1973. The previous owners bought the house 12 years ago for $320K and now rent an apartment until the market cools off.
True! But Living in Durham means higher property taxes. Double that of Toronto area
Which sucks because EVENTUALLY, my house will be paid off - but Property tax will always be there - and it will never go down.
Everyone likes to think this will happen. When I bought my first house in 2006 for $282k, and interest rates were 4.35℅ (2008) people told me the market was going to crash, and interest rates could never be that low. They were all very wrong. Had I listened to them, I wouldnt live in nearly as nice of a house, nor with the amount of equity I have in it.
So if the average Toronto detached house is 1.3M, property tax is around 9K per year. If the average detached house in Durham is 650K, property tax (Whitby) is $8400. So yes, its a higher percentage, but but you saved $650,000 and any interest associated with that....
