Let me know how today went as I too have the ticking sound. I'm going into the dealership tomorrow for an oil change and will have them document my concern with this ticking. Hopefully you've found a resolution.

went today again, apperantly the sound iam hearing now is actually not the ticking for purge valve, its from the njectors, the injectors in the 3 are brutually loud.... now my initial problem is fixed, injectors iam going to have to deal with , nothing can be done about that. so i recommend u go and get ur purge valve changed but dont expect a silent car like a rolls royce phantom , its not going to happen
I dropped my car off last night to get an oil change done today at the dealership but I told them about the ticking sound and how it sounds like a diesel. I also have my radiator fan on all the time so I have that noise too. They said the technician could not hear anything!!! Its so loud, when they called I asked them if they drove it for at least 10 mins and he said yes. The technician is probably deaf. I heard bad things about this dealership and I will be switching from them. He told me that the techs leave by 4 pm so I would have to take a day off and come in. Are you kidding me? If anything the tech should be there unitl 6pm when the service department is closes.

lol thats not suprising , ive been to the dealership 5 times before they fixed the ticking problem.... I still have the issue with the creaking sound at the back which is still not fixed.

I replaced my purge valve at MOT a year ago? Anyway, a similar sound still existed, but I never bugged them about it.
When I was leaving MOT one time I saw Raymond, he is the one who usually works on my car, and I asked him about it. He said it was the fuel injectors.
I was @ Jimmy's for a punctured tire and asked Jimmy about it, he confirmed that the fuel injectors are indeed this loud.
I was @ Gilmen's yesterday for alignment. I asked him as well, he confirmed what the other two mechanics said.

msg me if theres any meets in toronto, lol *** driving to oakville, its like an hour drive from me , now that iam back in toronto , Fuman check ur msg box i just pmd u , is there a fix for these injectors or no? cause they are unbelievably loud.... I dont think Ive heard this in any other modern day car... and by modern i mean 1998 to 2008!

my brothers "ticking" in his 3 hatch led to a new motor being needed! dont let this questionable noise slide. Get it looked at ASAP before its too late.

Iam at bathurst and eglinton so anywhere around there lol, anywhre within a 15 min drive,
ps those jettas are louder then a ***in school bus

its diffrent, the sound now is just the very loud injectors.... on a diffrent subject... today my rain sensing wipers took 20 mins to turn on..... and it was on the auto postion .... with heavy rain.. i was like ****...... not another problem !!!! then it turned on by it self out of no whre when the rain died down... i dont kno wtf went wrong with it
My ticking was not noticeable the first two days and then I noticed it, but it would disappear after idling for a short time. Now it never disappears.
I will have the dealer check the purge valve.
I don't understand how the injectors would cause a ticking sound. Wouldn't they be ticking at the same frequency as the engine rpm which is 17 ticks per minute at 1000rpm.

there is only one type of ticking that they say is abnormal and thats the diseal type ticking sound, theres another ticking that actually the injectors and I kno for sure its more then 17 ticks per minuite i would guess anywhere between 60-65 ticks ... i dont know where u got the 17 from, u need to kno that the injectors on the mazda 3 are extremly loud, but appreantly its normal... my ticking sounds were sometimes louder and sometimes quiter but thats as much as i kno, if ur gonna take it to the dealer make sure ur in the car and ur the driver so u can tell them of the sound, if they drive ur car alone they will say that they cant hear it
Well that's the problem. Sometimes I have it and sometimes not. I guess if it starts going all the time I'll fix it. Is it gonna cause problems or just noise?

iam not sure if its gonna cause problems later on or not , iam no mechanic but just cause it was very very very annoying i decided to do something about it, u never know if its gonna cost a safety issue with the car

I have the 2L engine. Would this issue make the engine run a bit rough?
I only hear it when it's idle. The vibrations are not noticeable when driving only when I lift the hood I can feel with my hand. Something did happen because it used to be smooth as butter...
Also i did notice they put a bit too much oil in the engine because it is a couple on mm past the max line on the dip stick.
Maybe this is causing it?
