anyone with engine ticking read

got my car back from the dealer and i drove it for 15 kms in highway then came to an exit and a stop sign for about one minuite to listen to see if the ticking was gone, no sound at all, the car seemed like it was off, very quit, no ticking of any kind,
go to your dealership and tell them exactly what i type here.
check engine ticking noise from engine area.

the diagnoses is faulty purge valve vacuum pipe

part : RP LF7V_20_370B Tube,VACUU

hope that helps, anybody need more help msg me, note ive been following up with this for over 2 weeks so its about my 4th time going to the same dealer to have this fixed, sending e-mails to mazda canada and filing claims against them.

as others said its a ticking sound coming from the engine, imagine a modern diseal sound like a mercedes 320 series but quiter,

it should solve your ticking if its coming from the engine area, mines completely gone, now when i come to a stop sign i hear nothing, its much quiter then before, maybe ur problem is diffrent?

I remember this part on the P5 I had... I replaced my factory intake with an Injen, and didn't line up the purge valve properly.. thing ticked heavily like a diesel.. luckily, i played with it, stood it up properly, and the noise went away..

As for ticking, I wish I could get rid of mine in my MS3.. but it is Direct-Injection.. boo for noise!

But glad you got the car fixed, I'll have to let my brother in law know as they have a M3 hatch sport.. he was telling me it ticks sometimes..

I suggest you go to mazda of toronto and give that that part number, its not like i just went in an it was fixed, it took me about a month with many many calls, letters , complaints untill i got it fixed, so dont expect to go in and for them to be like k... there gonna deny theres any sound at first

its something u would expect out of a 10 year old chevy not a mazda , but i guess everycar has its issues, some less some more

Has anyone else attempted to get it fixed? I notice the ticking does not start right away for me and only happens after driving a few KM. It continues to tick after my drive and when the car is in Park. When I come back and start the car, the ticking noise is gone.

for me it usually happens after a good 5- 10 min drive when u come to a stop sign or any sort of stop, it gets louder once u do more driving, usually at start up u can hardly hear it,
ogata keep me updated if ur able to get it fixed, i want to see if anyone else gets it done easier without running around for weeks

I ran around to 2 dealers months ago who did NOT detect it. I will trial again on my next oil change in January. What makes their testing inaccurate is that you have to drive for abit before you hear the ticking noise. If I drove around and told them, I'm SURE they would figure it out. I still have my clanking noise problem which neither 2 dealers were able to detect but it was SOOO detectable. I think the mechs are deaf.

when i got it they told me it sounded like that cause it needed to be broken in... it made no sence what so ever, all my friends have new cars ranging from vw,s to chevys to bmw , none has this sound but iam like ok what ever i know this is a problem but iam gonna follow what they say... i think it took 3 diffrent trips to the dealer + someone from mazda of canada comin down driving the car untill they were able to detect it.... if u find u tried many times and ur getting no where then as a last thing to do i would file a complaint with mazda of canada, they responded in about a day i think, the guy i talked to was very helpful

hope everything goes well trinidad, if by weekend set u mean a car, then they are responsible to give u a rental car at no cost to u if the vehicle is to stay there over night. 1 problem down for me now to tackle the crunching sound in the rear!

update *** 2 days ago the sound came back after a long drive i came to an idle at a parking lot and the ticking was there again, much quiter but it was there, I have e-mailed mazda canada and I have gotten the district manager involved, tuesday i go into dealer again......

yepp i'll let u guys know on tuesday... now that the district manager is involved iam sure a real fix will come, if not iam just gonna keep on going bak till they fix my vehicle or give me a new one with no problems..

I thought as much but even with a Speed3, I bet you won't notice that ticking noise when the exhaust is farting that loud! I'll agree on stock, it sounds nasty and I only want myself to fart the loudest as opposed to my own 3. Let us know on your update on Tuesday. Good Luck!
