Any1 knows if the independent fogs will turn on in the \"OFF\" mode? I wanted to do the mode if it works, caz I\'ve bypassed DRL w/ HIDs and want to use the fogs in the day.
thx!

They become completely independent.
Just turn them on if you would like or turn them off if you would like. you know independent ;)

Hope I don\'t get burned for asking this question but here it goes.
I understand what independent means but...
1) If the fogs are at ON position AND the key is OUT of the ignition (engine is turned off), will the fogs stay on?
2) Or even with the fogs at ON position, will it only turn on if the key is IN the ignition (engine is running)?
If it\'s method #1 (which I would think it is), I would have to always turn it off and on everytime...call me lazy.
But if it\'s method #2, I can truly use fogs as DRL (headlight DRL disabled due to HIDs) by keeping them at the on position all the time.

John - its method #2.
I had Lockdown do my HID install, and Independant fogs. I simply use the ON/OFF column to control, and when the car is off, so are the HIDS.
So you can use your fogs as the DRL, and when you turn the car off, the fogs will stay on for 10-15 seconds (kind of like the Bimmers do), and then they will turn off.
If you want HIDs, and want to use your fogs for DRL.... do it! :)

So you\'re telling me that I can keep the FOGs at the ON position ALL THE TIME and when the engine shuts off (and I walk away from the car), the fogs will stay on for 10-15 seconds then turn off automatically???? That\'s pretty cool.

Your fogs will turn on under the following conditions, with the independent fog mod:
1) key is in the ON Position
2) Fog light switch is in ON position
Please also note:
a) It DOES NOT matter where the headlight switch is, Off, Auto, On... it\'s irrelevent.
b) Fog lights will stay on for a short period of time after the key is no longer in the ON position. However, you can safely walk away from your car, knowing that the fog lights will turn off within a reasonable amount of time of removing the key or turning it out of the ON position. This time varies. From experience, it can be as short at 5 seconds, or as long as 32 seconds.

I did! This is what happens when you are bored and have a new mod. Back when I first did the independent fog mod, for the first couple of weeks, I kept track of how long the fog lights stayed on after each trip.
My range was 5 seconds to 32 seconds. Surprisingly, it doesn\'t matter how long the car was running. I thought it would since I figured the mod just drained the excess charge in the electrical system (longer trip = longer excess charge). I guess I thought wrong.

Sorry to bring this thread back but i have a few questions. if indipendent fogs can be turned on or off at any time, why do people keep saying it stays on for a few seconds after they shut he engine off? doesn't that mean they can't switch it off anytime? why not just turn off the fogsbefore shuting off the engine...unless its on all the time which means they are not indipendent.

this has been answered in a few other threads recently, you should try searching before posting.
to answer your question, if you turn your fog light switch to off, before you turn off the car, your fog lights will not remain on for 10+ seconds after the car is off.
The problem with our cars is that the fogs are tied to the low beam headlights, so the only way to run the fogs "independantly" or without having the other low-beam headlights on at the same time is to re-wire.
there is a way to wire it so the fogs go off immediately when the car is turned off, so if you don't like that feature, you aren't forced to have it.
