Just wondering if anybody could recommend a good place to get my calipers painted in the GTA and the cost (they are starting to rust!).

thanks

I think alot of people do it on their own, but let me know when you have decided where you are getting it done, because I want to do it as well. Maybe if there is a garage that will lend us the equipment anyone who wants to paint their calipers can bring it in. I also need to pick up the decals from RedRaptor to put them on the calipers. Keep me updated, I will be really interested in this. :p :D

I went over to MajesticBlueN\'s place this long weekend and 5 hours later, I have black calipers. :) It is a lot more work than I expected but I got help from Neil which made it better. We used Duplicolour Brake Caliper Paint and that stuff really dries fast. I put on about 1.5 coats on stressing the areas where the \"Mazda\" sticker goes. If your calipers are black, I would suggest the silver sticker. It doesn\'t stand out as much compared to white but it goes really well with the finish on the stock rims.

I had my calipers painted when I brought my car to the bodyshop to fix my wife\'s accident. They were going to charge me $150 to paint the calipers & the rotors(?) I\'m not sure, they said something else also rusts. But when I went back, they said the other parts was so new it would be stupid to sand it to paint. It ended up costing me $100 for the calipers. They painted the whole thing though, calipers & brake pads. But I was too lazy to do it myself so it\'s fine.

What colour would look good on Sunlight Silver, I was thinking about the obvious (Silver) but wondering if Black would look good, or I could go extreme and paint it Red!!:sarc :p :D

150 is way to much, guy. you got ripped. and at that price they should have removed the pads to just paint the calipers, solely; It looks much cleaner. As far as rotors, they prolly painted the centres of the rotors(outter) ... for some reason these OE mazda rotors look 1 million years old when it rains, cause of all the momentary rust. If they painted the braking surface of the rotor ... DONT EVER GO BACK THERE, AGAIN :sarc

about being lazy: it\'s OK to be lazy, as long as you got the cash to throw away..

i still need to take a picture of the final product (with rims on) . The whole process took me about 4 hours (for only the front). Even though im in mech eng, this was the first time tinkering with my car ... so im still newb. I see no need to pay someone 150$ to paint them . Try doing them yourself, its ez !!!! :p :)

It only cost me $100 cause they didn\'t paint the rotors. It may seem a bit expensive, but factor in they gave me an awesome price on fixing my car. $700 to take out the dents on my driver side back fender, fill the scratches on my bumper & skirt. Then painted all 3 parts. Plus they did all this in 10 hours so that I didn\'t have to rent a car while waiting. They clean the rotors & detailed the car for me. I didn\'t mind paying the $100 for the calipers.

Do the calipers need to be primed before painting?

Personally I think it could look good, but search around, I\'m sure someone has posted a pic of that exact combo.
