Rear brake pads

This morning I did my morning ritual surveying my car for any new cratches, stonechips, tire pressure, etc... then I looked at the rear brake pads its down to about 20% of rubber. I then checked the front pads, the front still has about 70% and I\'m only at 21300k, I do mostly highway driving so less braking. Is anyone else noticing this problem?

it\'s not really normal but that\'s what\'s been happening with most of the 3\'s.. it\'s most likely related to the excessive brake dust in the rears which in turn would suggest different brake pad material in the rear. MajesticBlueN had the same happen (http://torontomazda3.com/forum/read.php?TID=2623#35582) but that was at ~50K km

YUP... Almost 22K and I can barely see the lining on my rears.... The fronts look brand new.
If you mention it to your dealer.. They will say it\'s normal.
Just like my garbage gas mileage.. First they said engine break in 5000k... then they said engine break in 15k....now i have 22k and never get close to 500km for a tank.

But anyway.... they do wear faster and will cost a small fortune to replace at the dealer. Go with some aftermarket pads (cheaper and better) and do it yourself (cheaper and better)

and i thought i was the only person who had shitty gas milage. i never come close to 500 as well. im more like 400 +/- 20... sonofabitch lol. also yeah the rear pads are shit. at 16km my fronts were still 70 while my rears were 50. then recently at like 38k i was hearing this weird noise and to make a long story short....

1. dont drive your mazda like a ferrari/take it easier on the car/im an animal XD
2. replaced rear pads and rotors, because it was down to metal-to-metal contact and like messed beyond belief
3. also had to replace front rotors and get pads conditioned AGAIN (brang car in at like 16k and they replaced the \"excessive run\" on my fronts in warrenty), due to my \"excessive breaking\"

haha lesson learned, really take it easier on the car. the thing that surprises me is the rear pads... haha it all cost 830 bucks....

i get 350/360 when the light comes on...and then i usually fill up 47-50 liters...so i get 13-14L/100km

i do drive it hard 95% of the time, but still a 5spd 2.0L motor shouldn\'t be guzzling gas that much especially when the thing is slow :p


rear brakes done at 50k (only a thin film of brake material left (pads/rotors)
fronts gonna be done this week (pads/rotors)

holy bad mileage...i have a 5 spd 2.3l...i also drive fairly hard. i drive lots on the highway though but i always get over 500km a tank ever since i switched to a full synthetic. my best is 631km on a tank..that was non stop at approx. 112km/h. if you have a 2.0L, you should get better mileage then the 2.3L if you drive normally, but if you push it the 2.0L works a lot harder then the 2.3L would and in turn you get shitty gas mileage. Dont know what to tell you man, slow down or put up with the crap mileage. i dont know what oil you use, but switch to mobil 1...you wont regret it,

BTW...dont read into the BS that using synthetic will void your warranty. It wont. Period. once i switched to sythetic my mileage went up by 30-45km per tank...i was really impressed...

there is a TSB for fuel injectors, its probably that causing poor gas mileage. Ur dealer lies?
Rear brakes have TSBs, make sure they performed them all, if you haven\'t done these TSBs it might be the cause for the extra brake wear and tear.
