I was wondering how well the interior trim stick-ons (aluminum accent kit) holds up in the heat. whether it will peel away in the extreme heat. and does it damage the plastic underneath if left on for a long time ie. 5 years. will the glue on the tape holding the trim on corrode or distort the factory panels underneath it.

if you\'re planning to keep it on for 5 years... maybe you should think about painting interior trim pieces .. lasts longer and if you get it clearcoat, will look really sharp!
the only way i could see this NOT working is if you plan to get the \'carbon fiber look-a-like\' in which case decals/3M would be your only option. I\'m sure that the manufacturers of these products take into account extreme weather conditions, since they do know it will be on your car year round, not only in the cooler months ...

My concern with painting the parts is the cost of replacing them if i bugger them up. and something i put in may not be what someone else would like if i try to resell the car. If I would be able to buy the parts seperate and paint them for cheap then it would be easier. although not sure if they have an aluminum paint that would look the same as the aluminum trim kit.

there are paints out there that can mimick the aluminum in the car... but what I was suggesting, is that IF you\'re worried about it falling off .. and you wante it to last 5 years .. it\'s better to get them professionally painted.. and clearcoat... looks sharp, and stock looking.
I would be more concerned with that 3M stuff being on for such a long time, and then having to clean up all the extra adhesive (when you dicide to remove them) .. scratching and blah, blah...
it\'s your call, just thought that it would be better to get em painted, BUT it\'s up to you.

how much would you think it would cost to paint the parts. or get duplicate parts and paint them?

Lonewolf, what I have in my car is holding so far up in this extreme heat. I don\'t know what it is going to do 4 years from now though. I always test it by trying to see if it peels off but it doesn\'t budge. As for what it looks like underneath, I would think it doesn\'t look too good if you peel it off with all the glue or adhesive they put to keep it down. Looks good on, so I am going to leave it. :p :D

how is the trim for scratches? does it scratch easily or show scratches or marks more than normal?

I don\'t have any scratches on the trim, from what I can tell it doesn\'t scratch easily.

Thats good to hear. did you get the aluminum or a different color? I have seen the aluminum but was wondering what the different colors would look like in place.
