Well it\'s been a nice quiet two weeks; I\'ve had the time off from work, so what a great time to break in a new car.
On July 7, 2005, after much hassle from the insurance company, I finally took ownership of the vehicle, and put the \'95 Grand AM in the history books as the car that broke my driving virginity.
Just a reminder of what the vehicle is:
2005 Mazda3 Sport GS
Sunset Orange
DI Spoiler
Automatic
Air Conditioning
Wheel Locks
It has been quite interesting driving the vehicle around, just getting a feeling for what it can do. For starters, it definetly has quite some kick, and it\'s amazing how time can improve techologies. The engine, despite being smaller, actually has more output that the old V6s. Tiptronic is very fun as well, and lets me get the jump on Soccer Mom (or if they\'re Asian, Majong Mom) vehicles who tend to roll along with the same velocity as you, which is very, very annoying when you\'re trying to cut in and get into a turning lane.
The interior is very well designed, with the exception of the fact that pretty much EVERYTHING scuffs very easily, so I keep that Microfibre cloth very close just in case. I\'ve gotten better at reducing the number of scuff marks when I enter or exit the vehicle though. Now that I think about it, I don\'t particularly think the ammenties are any better than other vehicles at the price range, but it sure as hell looks much better.
The ride is very smooth, but then again my old vehicle was second hand, and was on it\'s last legs in terms of tires. Driving under conditions like that for a while makes you appreciate a new car even more. Another bonus of a new car is having a window that actually opens properly (try having no window for almost three years, and how much fun it was at the border crossing), coupled by actually having TWO working turn signals (my right one died about the time I bought the Mazda3).
Fuel Economy is a bit spotty but then again it\'s still on the first batch of Engine Oil, and I hear it gets better... much better. Also, I have not been doing much Highway driving, which is what I usually do as I work out in Oshawa.
My only regret is that there are quite a few Mazda3\'s on the road, so it isn\'t as though I\'m getting super amounts of attention and head turning. Then again, I live in Markham, where attention is paid to junked 1992 Honda Civics with a reformatted garbage can they call a spoiler.
So to recap, things are great, and I look forward to the future, particularly the wierd stuff one tends to do once the warrenty period is over with.
