How high can you legally build a fence? 8ft,10ft,12ft in Mississauga/Brampton or Region of Peel area? Are there any by-laws.

What about the height of hedging in-between properties?

We have inheritted some ignorant loose leashed dog shitters and more annoying nosey prying over friendly neighbours in our new subdivision.

If you break wind outside they can litterally tell you what your last 3 meals were, how it was cooked, where you bought it from and for what price.

They don\'t touch upon actual fence height, but ellude to how high hedging can be when it is considered a fence at 6\'2\". Nowadays these wooden fences are fairly high with the lattice criss-cross wood weave at the top which can allow you another foot, so I guess 7ft ish can be done.

8. How high is a hedge allowed to grow?

In accordance with the Minimum Maintenance By-Law, a hedge must be kept trimmed and from becoming unreasonably overgrown in a manner that may affect safety, visibility or passage of the general public. Adherence to hedge dimensions becomes particularly important when a hedge flanks or is otherwise adjacent to a driveway, that is, a driver’s view must not be obstructed by the hedge when pulling into or out of the driveway.

Depending on the hedge dimensions, it may be considered a fence and, therefore, would have to meet the standards outlined in the City\'s zoning by-law. A fence on the side or rear of a property can be 1.2 metres (6’ 6”) high; a fence in the front yard may be 1 metre high.

For further information about fences and fence heights (particularly if you live on a corner lot) you may contact the City of Brampton Zoning Department at (905) 874-2090, Monday through Friday, excluding holidays, between the hours of 8:30 am and 4:30 pm.

There may well be a by-law, but the typical height is up to 2m.

There are also fire regulations to keep in mind, you need to be able to jump over the fence in case of an emergency!!!! laughable but true, what happens if you\'re a \"small person\" ? :sarc
