I just bought a set of Kenwood KFC-603 6.5 components for fairly cheap price. I have the 3 GT Sport, before going throught the trouble of installing them (being the lazy bastard I am), any of you know if there will a noticable difference between these ones and the stock. I will be just running them off the stock head unit. I have no intention of getting subs, I am just looking to improve the clarity and the bass a bit.
Also, my understanding is that the stock speakers are 6x8, where can a get an adapter plate for 6.5 component speakers. Thx.

Anything is better than the stock speakers.
Any good car audio store will carry the adapter plates (MDF or plastic).

Thanks guys, I will try to install them this weekend. Maybe I will consider adding a cheap 2 channel amp to power these speaker.

think of it this way:

You guys are right! I didn\'t realize how cheap the stock speakers were until I removed them last weekend. They are nothing more than paper cones, both front speakers and tweeters combined probably weight less than a lb. The sound quality on the new component speakers is much better than before (even with the stock head unit). As a matter a fact, I had to fade out the back stock speakers because of the distortion coming from the back. I guess I will have to replace the back speakers with 6.5\" ones soon. Again, thanks for the advice.
