Hey guys, i was just on Auto trader and it seems RX-8\'s can be had for almost the same price as a brand new 3. Anyone know how reliable the 8\'s are ? and any problems they experience normally ?

Nah i thought about it again. Cant afford the gas and unpredictability in the reliability of the vehicle. Its one thing to look cool, its another thing to be broke while ur at it.

If you read on other forums you\'ll find that it\'s a pig on gas, insurance is generally quite high, and it hasn\'t proven to be terribly reliable. I wonder how it would do in winter? Don\'t get me wrong, if I was loaded I\'d probably pick one up, but if I have to live with just one car year round, I wouldn\'t buy an RX-8.

Almost traded in the 3 for an 8. Love the styling.

Surfed the 8 board for awhile, and the 8 does have its share of problems. Lots of complaints re fuel mileage for sure. 350 to 400 kms/tank is a common report for 50L of fuel. Don\'t know whether the 8 requires premium.

If you want an automatic, the 2004 to 2005 models are quite slow. Only come with a 4 spd automatic with a detuned engine. The 2006 model is reported to have about 217 ponies with a 6 spd automatic.

If I get an 8 for longish term, I\'d get the extended warranty for sure!!!

Yeah i also did some more digging and the problems are longer than Santa\'s Wish List. Plus topping up the oil fluid every other fill up ?!??!?! .. Thats just CRAZY !!!!

New decision is between the 2006 Si and the 3 GT.

I was quoted an extra $500 or so, but that included my wife. Either way, it\'s an additional cost.
