Last night at work at break time i went to Timmies for a coffee. I started my car and noticed a new display on the radio read out screen. Normally on canadian versions of the mazda3 the right side of the read out is blank. This morning i hade \"AMB\" and then 3 dashed undernieth it. It was never there before and just appeared now. Does anyone know what it is and why it just appeared. Im assuming this is the new feature for the 06\'s, but i have a 04 with just under 70000km. this feature is there but the 3 dashes remain blank as if its not reading out anything.
Im assuming its the mileage calculator not working. This car is full of surprises.

It\'s always been there. You just played around with the contrast button that\'s all. The 04 and 05 models don\'t come with the sensors.

The \"AMB\" is the ambient outside air temperature reading.

If it really bothers you, the only way to fix it is bringing it to a Mazda dealership for TSB servicing;

i have a friend that it always use to be on and now it shut off. I guess maybe the dealership shut it off for him or it went off by itself...

you aren\'t the only one.... if you search for that problem on Mazda3 Forums, you get tons of hits.

Is there a way for mazda to install the sensor so that it works. I would really like to have that option.

Isnt there like a 20 page thread on the mazda3forums on this? Was the ambient temp. sensor ever installed successfully?

To remove the dashes just remove the negative terminal on your battery, wait 5 seconds and re-attach it. This will reset your radio stations but I mean I would rather reset those then have the annoying dashes staring at me and taunting me for the sensor. :p
