Never recall feeling warmth from the key after removing from the ignition switch.

Saw this same question from another message board. So it appears to happen....could it get hot enough to cause a fire?

My corolla did that and so does this car. After driving to ottawa, the key was warm. I don\'t think you should be concerned.

As long as you don\'t own an F-Series for pick-up truck or Aerostar you have nothing to worry about.

Hehehe I\'ve owned both those ford vehicles. The keys got super hot, but not enough I think to start a fire. However after some time you could remove the key from the ignition without having to turn it off. :p
