yup, engines like the colder denser air

cold start = open loop mode = engine running rich as hell = more gas = more power

warm engine not at WOT = closed loop mode = engine not running rich as hell = less gas = less power

open loop vs closed loop

http://xs50.xs.to/pics/05410/open_closed_loop.jpg

in an open loop system the inputs are fixed, in this case A/F ratio is the same, thus while in open loop mode the car runs rich the whole time to help with cold starts

in a closed loop system, the inputs depend on the outputs or rather are controlled by the outputs. think of a thermostat as a closed loop negative feedback system. you preset the temp to 20C, it rises to say 23C and the A/C kicks in until it senses that the temp is still above 20C.

Hey, I\'m a new new guy here and I hope I\'m not out of place by suggesting a short ram for constant cool air. I found one for about 75 to 95 us dollars from CosmoRacing.com

thanks for your help guys as for the short ram air thats a good idea but wouldnt it be worse cause its breathing the hot air around the engine.3s do u have one on your car and did it make a difference :)
