Anyone have any suggestions one way or another? I found a lot of threads on winter tires and reccomendations, and there are tonnes of good things to say about either of them. I live north of newmarket and have to take a combination of backroads and highways to work...so I need a tire that can handle the highway and still not leave me in a ditch once I get out of newmarket.

Anyone? :D

as much as i hate kittens and i\'d love to eat them with you, i will be nice and SUGGEST you search (http://torontomazda3.com/forum/search.php) like you\'ve done already and make up your mind since we will probably repeat the same info.. or while we\'re at it why not make a matrix of all pros and const for all winter tires and list them here.. *sigh*

I guess it would all depend on how much you\'re willing to spend.. Dunlop M3\'s come to around $950 with steel rims.. Kumho\'s come to around $750 (I think).. I\'ll be getting the Snowtech Vikings for $600 cuz of the price.. but any of the tires should be fine.. I mean, as long as u\'r not driving like a maniac..

but I hear the Hankook\'s are good also..

No wonder why we have almost 40% of members with 10 posts of less ... Majoogle kicks in too soon .. :p

I\'ll throw in my 2 cents here ...
I\'d go for Dunlop M3 if budget is not a big concern. The price gap is closing between them; a set of M3 costs only $125 more (price taken from Tires23 (http://www.torontomazda3.com/forum/read.php?TID=3701))
I\'ve read very good reviews about the Dunlop M3 for highway and city driving (Rated #1 from Tire Rack (http://www.tirerack.com/tires/surveyresults/surveydisplay.jsp?type=W&VT=C&sortValue=1)) Kumho KW17 is also good and that\'s what and many other have; even better if it\'s price doesn\'t increase that much from last year.

another 2 cents ..

I\'d pick Hankook W300 over the Kumho KW17; similar performance/review and 100 or so cheaper

M3 > KW17, KW17 = W300, but W300 less expensive.

I\'ll add my .02 , I bought a set of M3 Sport from Tires23 last year. Dry traction is better than the stock RSA\'s:D Deep snow no problem at all considering our cars are light, it handled pretty good with the torque of our engine. However hard packed snow or black ice it does slip a bit, I had to roll from 2nd gear sometimes to get a good start. I didn\'t notice much wear after 1 winter, even though I abused them by driving agressively when the roads were dry during winter :)
With all that being said, IF the KW17\'s were like 200 bucks less than the M3, I would consider those instead.
