I want to know many of your opinions on the stock Mazda3 2.3L exhaust. (I don\'t know if the 2.0L engine has a different exhaust).
I think the stock exhaust is just about perfect, in terms of looks (the finisher is subtle and shiny) and sound (in has a gentle mellow exhuast note, that burbles off idle in 1st, with cues of the growl of the Nissan 350Z and G35 coupes, albeit at lower intensity).
The only thing fault I can find about it is that the tip is a bit small, but not small as my P5 was. The P5 has a soft growl to it too, set it apart from many econoboxes out there, except factory tuned versions of course. The size of the tip and the lack of sound were the reasons many people went with aftermarket systems like Mazdaspeed, Racing Beat, etc.
So what are your opinions on the stock MZ3 exhaust? And for those who upgraded to an aftermarket system,, do you find it much better than the stock system.

What the hell are you smoking.... You wish it sounded remotely like a Z..:sarc
The shiny tip is a piece of polished tin spot welded on the end.... i.e JUNK...
When I bought my system I didn\'t spend $650 for a bigger tip and nicer sound... I Wanted HP!!!
That would be the only reason to replace the exhuast.
And yes... A full System High-flo Cat, Res. and Muffler beats the stock system.

Note the use of \"I\" in the above reference. Some people don\'t mind to spend money to get a larger tip and louder sound. For HP gains though, dude where\'s your turbo kit?

i agree with wtom, not everybody purchase parts for the same reason.
nothing wrong with it...just preference.

I\'m just putting off my exhaust purchase until something more legal comes out from the Japanese aftermarket (I\'m still eyeing the HKS one)...

Mazdaspeed has a cat. back system they are releasing.. Comes in 3 pieces Very nice sound , good fit.
Look for it on the car show circuit starting in Montreal this month and coming to Toronto in Feb.
Mazda Canada has a M3 sport with the full line of Mazdaspeed accessories installed that will be on display.
now with that in mind, what kind of pricing are we talking...?

I am not sure, Mazda shipped us the part without an invoice(since they were paying) It should be available soon.. I hear it will be in the new catalog Mazda is printing. Lets just say it will not be the cheapest.. However it will be backed by factory warranty and this should end the \"its not covered since you modded your car!\"

hey all
I have been doing some checking into the exhausts, and personally i am leaning towards a magnaflow. I have heard a lot of great things from it. Good power gains, and doesnt sound to ricey. looking at a grand to get it tho. high quality stainless and from what i can remember 10 percent increase in hp. let me know if anyone has had good experiences with it or any others.
