View Full Version : Touch Up Paint (How long do I have?)

So I haven\'t even made my first payment yet, and I got dinged with a rock on the highway yesterday. I went over to DWM (my local dealer) right away to pick up some touch up paint, but I missed the parts desk by ten minutes. I went back this morning and told the guy at the counter I needed touch up paint in winning blue mica for an 06 sport GT...he insisted he needed to see the car first?

At any rate, he checked the car and then told me he didn\'t have the paint in stock...and it would be a week or two until I see it.

Should I worry about the chip now? Is it worth my time to go to MOT or Avante and get the paint asap, or will it be fine in a week?

How bad is the \'ding/dent\'? If you can see bare metal I would be worried with the rain. I would at least apply some wax to that area, if not just splurge and spend the $5 to get it from another dealer.

Down to the bare metal! Argh!
I guess I\'ll have to give MoT and Avante a call and see if they have the paint in stock

I have a question about dents...or more specifically, how to repair them.

Q: Is there a specific type of compound that your suppose to rub into the dent to fill in the hole before applying the paint. If so, what tools do I need other than some elbow grease ? :)

Thanks majic!

So I guess I have to take it to one of those places. To bad there aren\'t any GOOD products that I can buy and do it myself :(

Sorry, my mistake. I meant that I have scratches in the paint (i.e. no dents)....does waxing make it flush enough to apply the touch-up paint? If I\'m not making any sense, please keep in mind that it\'s almost 3am :p
