Maybe I don\'t have the reputation on Redflagdeals.com as I do here! :D
They\'re eatin\' me up alive there. Just posted about a video card (http://www.redflagdeals.com/forums/showthread.php?p=2383781#post2383781), and I get a bunch full of serious mofo crap.
Funny actually! I\'m going ride that one as much as I can! Yippee kay ya yay!!!

I don\'t know your budget, but here\'s a pretty good one.

Yah, they made me cry. :( They were so mean.
I have a P4 2.2. Low end parts, I\'m sure. So, will the 6600 be that much better than say a 5700? Someone PM\'d me back and offered me a 5700 card for $80. I don\'t wanna be obsolete, but don\'t wanna pay double or triple for something that won\'t be noticeable due to my slow system.

Diddy,
RFD actually has a lot of geeks and I guess you\'re not \"known\" over there, so they treated you like a mofo that just walked into their circle. I think it takes a little while to get used to your humour...haha...do you talk to your parents in law like that at dim sum? ;)
I have a ATI 9800 PRO AGP myself and quite honestly its getting very slow for games like F.E.A.R and Call of Duty 2.
I had some money to spare this week and my two choices were an ATI 850XT or OEM LED tail lights for my 3...I think you guys can guess which one I bought. :p

The inlaws don\'t understand English very much; I don\'t speak Chinese very well. So, I can basically say whatever I want.
Is the ATI 850X5 a PCI-E card? If so, don\'t you need to buy another motherboard that has PCI-E support?
bluntman

It\'s available in both AGP and PCI-E flavours.

Damn, Bluntman beat me to it.
I have the game and similar spec\'ed computer. I brought a BFG 6600GT w/128 GDDR3 AGP, this is the minimum that I would recommend. You also need 1 GIG of ram for your computer, since the game is a MASSIVE ram hog. Also you would need a 400Watt Power Supply as the video card is very fussy about power. You would need an additional power connector from your power supply, (fat molex power connector that plugs in your hard drive).
If you\'re going with ATI cards don\'t get anything slower than a X800 equipped video card. These cards don\'t need an extra power connector, BUT they don\'t support Shader Model 3.0, which isn\'t future proof.
I brought the BFG 6600GT OC card at www.CanadaComputers.com, good prices and they have locations all over the GTA. I did have stability problems the first day and returned it for a new one.
256MB DDR PC3200 stick of ram = $27
400Watt Power Supply = $29
Battlefield 2 = $49
BFG 6600GT OC AGP w/128 GDDR3 Ram = $239 after rebate
Fragging a Geek over the Internet = Priceless
BTW, you can guide the TOW missile by HOLDING the left mouse button when you fire it.
Have Fun and Happy Fragging. :D

Fack. $300 in upgrades just to play one game. And I don\'t even know if my power supply is up to spec.

Hey, $300 isn\'t so bad. I once spent $800 on a BFG 6800 Ultra OC video card back when they first came out, that was just to play Doom 3 and Half Life 2!
IIRC, I believe Nvidia cards are named \"6xxx\", \"6xxx GT\" and then \"6xxx Ultra\" in terms of performance with the \"6xxx\" being the bottom of the range with the \"Ultra\" cards being at the top of the range. Of course the 6xxx series has been replaced with the 7xxx series.

Hey, I just looked at my power supply. It\'s 350W. Do you think I\'ll need to upgrade it to 400W+ if I get a high end card like a 6600GT or x800?
It\'s a P4, 2.2, CD R/W, DVD burner, 2 WD harddrives, integrated sound. There\'s a USB optical mouse, but I\'m sure it doesn\'t draw that much electricity...

I have the same 350W rated power supply and 1 harddrive! it didn\'t work for me, the video card was unstable until I upgraded to 400W.
You might have better luck with an x800 card since its doesn\'t need an extra power connector. Check the requirement on the box.

if it\'s a generic PSU, then i would get something more updated.. haven\'t looked around but seasonic is what i have now (s12-600) it kicks ass, 80% efficiency, dual 12V rails and TRUE power ratings.. almost no Vdips and quiet too with a nice 120mil fan.. antec used to be my other favourite and i have a 550True Power PSU in my other PC.. either of those puppies should do you well for some time :)
people often undermine the importance of a clean, efficient, quiet and stable PSU..
EDIT:
seasonic is sitting in a server that\'s powering
8 WDC HD (yah i\'m biased) 3000JDx4 and 2500JDx4 :D
939 socket 3000+ with a msi neo mobo
2x512 ram
low power vid card
the 550True PSU is powering
k8v deluxe with 3200+ CPU
2x512 OCZ 3200EL mem
2x74GB raptors ;)
2x250GB WDC
9700 PRO

So 768 mb RAM? Whatever...
Fack, Battlefield 2 takes so long to load. And it\'s so confusing. Maybe I gotta get used to it. Just bring back Doom I. Ah, the good ol\' days.
Oh, BTW, it\'s actually an X800Pro 256 card (used). I picked it up for $230. Is that okay? Not that it really matters - it\'s too late! :D
