Hey everyone,
Maybe someone can help me out with a connection. I am looking at purchasing 2 * sharp Aquos 32\" Widescreen LCD HDTV** (LC32DA5U) units. I have a US source at a good deal, but don\'t want to drive to Philly to go pick them up. So, I was wondering if anyone has a connection at Future shop or Best Buy that can check employee cost on the TV for me. If I can get that information, I can negotiate a deal somewhere. Or if someone has someone at FS or BB that will purchase these at Employee cost, I am willing to pay a consulation fee.
Thanks for any advice/help provided.

lol.. it\'s only been an hour.. :)
besides.. someone told me about UPS store in buffalo. you can ship there .. they charge you $5 holding fee (maybe more for more expensive items) and then you drive and pick it up from there.. i haven\'t checked it out myself yet but when i get home i can give you their number and address..
btw.. have you tried G&G electronics (just to see how much they would charge you) and damn santa won the lottery this year eh? ;)

majic, if you could get me the info on that UPS store, that would be a help, thanks. I\'m also a little concerned about buying that way in the chance that there are dead pixels or it is DOA.
Santa didn\'t win the loto this year...Santa has been busting his ass working insane hours, and is now going to start spending his comission. Mrs. Claus, also wants one for her parents. So it is my job to work the deal so to speak.

Why bother buy them at the US? u may get busted with those custom duties?:sarc

5% duty, plus 15% tax. It all comes down to price, if I can get within $200 locally I will, but if you figure $1250 US, plus taxes and duty, you are at $1750 canadian. Best price I have so far is $2150 Canadian locally taxes in. I am also fairly confident I can get that US price even lower, closer to $1150.
As I said it would be a hassle, and so I would be willing to pay a premium but within reason..

I understand u can probably get a wicked deal in the states, but it doesn\'t mean the custom will count their duty/taxes base on the price quote u provided!? At least that doesn\'t work for me......u could\'ve bought them @ US$1200ish, but customs do not necessarily need to count on that price u declared (although u have a receipt), especially if ur price is too far away from their \"guide-listing\", if they have chosed their own judgement, that means u have to pay that 20% exercise on say CAN$2000ish.....US$1250 + CAN$400-duty + ur own transport expenses = not worth the drive......correct me if i\'m wrong......

$2150 taxes in.. That is about as good as it gets. The FS / BB price is $2500 retail. I know you won\'t be able to get it for $1880 there.(+tax=$2160). There isn\'t $700 mark-up on that LCD.
Get it at your source or from the US.

S.F.W., keep in mind that if you buy through the US your warranty is pretty much garbage here in Canada. If you have a problem you have two options:
1) Pay to have it repaired in Canada
-or-
2) Pay to have it shipped to Sharp in the US and then to have it shipped back.
When I bought my plasma there were much better deals to be had if I purchased through the US, but knowing that these types of TV\'s can have issues right out of the box or shortly thereafter (i.e. dead pixels) worried me enough to pay more and buy local.

Warranty isn\'t a problem, Sharp Canada, said they would cover a Sharp USA warranty. The pixels are a concern though...

That is very, very uncommon in the industry. So Sharp Canada will send one of their own techs out to your home if something were to go wrong? If so, that is an awesome warranty!

It is an awesome warranty. It is becoming more common with LCD\'s and as a result LCD TV\'s that warranty\'s are international. Hopefully a trend that will continue.
