i was doing a right turn behind a Black Corolla from milner onto mcowan. I saw the bitch speed in to the right turn, so i turned too. THEN THE GUY SUDDENLY FULL BRAKES, i\'m like WTF and just tapped him in the ass with my license plate protector.. This Main land guy comes out and is like \"OMG THERES SO MUCH DMG (which there wasn\'t) I think i need to repaint and repair my whole bumper.. Give me your phone number.\" in his broken up english.. I tell him theres no dmg and i\'ll pay him 150 cdn if it\'ll make him happy.. he\'s not satisfied and still wants to get the whole bumper repaired and repainted when there were no visible dmg...he claims he went to a full stop because there was a pedestrian, i saw nobody walking and neither did my passenger.. He also claims my car scratched the top of his bumper when i didn\'t even pass 5KM/H..well later the cops came and told him there was \"NO VISIBLE DAMAGE\" and that he was blocking the road ( he was halfway into other lane) The guy started cussing off the 2 police officers, so they got pissed and was about to cuff him.. then the police officers got annoyed so they filed a report.. Then he looks at me as if i was the one that pissed off the police.. i went to the crc and they told me theres no dmg to my car.. next day i had to go back to the CRC because the idiot wanted to cancel it now.. this bish not only didn\'t tell the officers where i actually hit, he said i scratched the top of his bumper.. even the police said u should file a report just incase this guy wants to play around.. Now my frickin insurance is gonna go up next year... I HATE COROLLAS!! you know what the moron said? \"Rubber bumpers can rust.\"
here are a picture of his bumper: http://www.imagestation.com/album/pictures.html?id=2116456268&idx=1
what can i do so my insurance doesn\'t go up... Can my license plate cover even go that high?
*sorrie for bad grammer, just wanted to let off some steam.. because of that a-hole i couldn\'t finish my 1.5k word essay on time..

From my understanding of ur story and insurance matters, that moron ended up with canceling his report, so that there will be no negative words being sent to ur insurance record, or to the most maybe a non-at-fault accident record on ur file, but I think commonly for most insurance company if u have less than 2 non-at-fault accidents within 3 yrs then u\'ll be graced......I guess the reason he\'s canceling the report is that he found no beneficial words in the police report that would actually benefit him financially (since the police had determined there were NO damage to both ur and his car), but to the most a non-at-fault accident record in his insurance file. From this point there\'s no purpose for him to keep such a report with the police which gains no financial benefits to him in a short term but a negative influence to his insurance record in a long term. ;)

is it me? or are all craprolla drivers, scammers or just bad drivers? Couldn\'t cancel the report because the idiot told the lady at the CRC to file the report, and they were so dilligent that they faxed it right away... so now i\'m screwed next year.. I seriously hope that bitch dies a horrible death, i hope all the horrible things in the world happen to him and only him (and all the other scammers) :)

oh man, that sucks :( I don\'t think your insurance would go up though...why did you offer $150 when you didn\'t see any damages anyway?
Be really careful about right hand turns, I\'ve had a few friends who totalled their cars during right hand turns.

I don\'t think the corolla driver was such a scammer to begin with. I mean they were willing to withdraw the report, after all, no matter what the circumstance is. and, as you said, in the long run it will now affect him/her as well.
I mean if someone just rear-ended your car, even if it was a light TAP, you\'d want to be fully compensated for the littlest scratch. and BTW, by offering the dude $150, you\'ve made yourself guilty. A respray of the entire bumper would run more around the $400 mark ... It comes down to the fact that if someone tapped the rear of your car, you\'d also want a respray of the bumper, your car is your car, and you don\'t want anyone to mess it up, especially if you don\'t know them. It\'s easy to call the other driver a \'scammer\' but don\'t realize that you would have prolly overeacted in the same situation he/she was in.
AND, it doesn\'t really matter if they drive a corrola, civic, or a bimmer, the fact is that you nailed him from behind. He/she is prolly thinking \"stupid mazda3 drivers\" -- Not Fair.
As far as your insurance is concerned, the report shows that there was damage to the rear of the other person\'s car (even if it\'s minor or at 5km/h) and YOU rear-ended him, so there\'s really nothing you can do there... even if they did slam on the brakes outta nowhere. Your suppose to leave a safe distance between yourself and the car in front to come to a complete/safe stop.
I don\'t mean to make you feel upset about anything. I\'m giving you insight from a third person, and prolly the logic behind the insurance adjuster that will review the claim.
Good luck.

This is the reality of the situation as a cop once told me. Drive as if you were surrounded by absolute morons and you will do fine. His words not mine.
I thought the police would only be involved if there was $700.00 or more in damage. I realize they stopped to get the person out of the way of traffic. But if they say there is no damage, the cops shouldn\'t even be involved.
On a side note, she probably just wanted you to buy her dinner before you banged her in the rear.
I had a sorta-similar incident before but unfortunately mine came out to be an accident. The mofo in his van, on a snowy street, slows down and pulls towards the right. There are cars parallel parked in front and behind him. Pretty duh if you ask me but he\'s obviously parallel parking! So as I get closer to him (still like 50 ft away) I\'m going like 40km/h (posted 60 but at least an inch of snow on ground) he decides to do a U turn without signal!!!!!! I end up sliding into his front driver\'s side panel and cop charges me with careless driving. Cop could only be nice to me throughout the time and just give me advice to slow down if I see them braking like that. Don\'t assume.
I just see all these other people out there weaving in and out like mad ... one day they\'re gonna try to weave out but the car in front of them will do something unexpectedly and BAM...
Keep your spacing guys/gals and seriously assume nothing from other drivers other than they are careless behind the wheel (not saying to think of yourself as God!!!).

Hey shat if you just \"tapped\" my bumper you\'d be buying me a new one.:D
What if it was your bumper that was tapped?
Junior is right about the re-spraying cost. Not to mention if anything else was pushed in like the rebar.

well thing is if u saw his bumper, the other side was all scratched up.. and he wanted to withdraw the claim because of his wife.. he looks like one of those men that act all tough infront of u and all sissy like with his wife around.. i know i should of been more careful but if the right side of his bumper had a bigger scratch then the left side(where i hit, and you can\'t even see it unless u look VERY VERY CLOSE.. The police even asked him why he would want me to paint the whole bumper when the part i hit had nul dmg, and the other side is scratched up.. i\'m not saying your wrong, and i\'m not saying i\'m right by calling him a scammer but its more of a rant and a story so nobody else ends up like me.. as for corolla drivers driving shittily(don\'t think its a word :p) i\'ve noticed that throughout my daily driving.. and response to flipspeeds post, lol i did get hit once from behind, by a ford taurus. I just let the lady leave since there was no damage.. :)
its true tho, from what i see from daily driving corolla and civic drivers are probably the worse in toronto.. even from how my friend drives(he drives a civic), and he pretends its a f1. if you guys ever read the news last year, he was the one driving 120km/h into a pole on brimley and mcnicoll :D

Very well said, I agree 100%. If you were to touch/tap or do anything to my bumper, I would automatically ask for a respray eventhough I had 100 scratches on it before. You nailed the guy from behind so you are at fault. It doesn\'t matter what you say but when you rearend someone, there are no excuses.

I have an interesting story about insurance and \"At Fault\". It will be a little long winded, but if you read the whole thing, you\'ll probably share my point of view and agree that the law simply sucks for my situation.
So I\'m driving to work one cold a$$ winter day, about 1 inch of snow on the ground so traffic is completely stopped. I\'m going from the 401 westbound express onto the DVP south. Traffic is moving at about 0 km/hr - 1 km/hr.
So my lane is ending, and I am already 30 minutes late for work, and nobody is going to let me in cause everybody is all pissed off about traffic.
So here\'s me!
http://img228.imageshack.us/img228/1620/pic19zo.jpg (http://imageshack.us)
So I start wedging myself in front of some guy... and all seems to be going well. Keep in mind, this whole merging process took about 3 minutes.
So I get pretty well into the lane
http://img487.imageshack.us/img487/5381/pic21ua.jpg (http://imageshack.us)
The guy behind me is honking and giving me the finger... but at this point.. What could I do? I was already in front of him.... (So I waved and smiled).
So I continue on my way to work, at about 2 km/hr down the DVP.
I think nothing of the event for the next 2 days, and then on the third day, I come home to find a letter in the mail from an insurance company. Apparently this guy had filed some sorta claim for something!!! This obviously pissed me off, and I was taken by surprised cause I was sure that our cars did not come into contact with each other.
So I ran outside to take a really close look at my car, and there was a minute scuff. I brushed off the salt from my car, and the scuff was gone. The \"impact\" as it was referred to was enough to smudge the salt. And not enough to even scratch the paint.
http://img358.imageshack.us/img358/5483/pic34id.jpg (http://imageshack.us)
Now I tried to think about this logically, and seeing as the damage was on my rear bumper, on the drivers side, I assumed that this had to be 100% the other guys fault. I considered this to be a typical rear end collision!
So I go to the collision reporting center, and describe everything in detail... and I don\'t hear anything about it for the next 6 months.
Six months later, I get my insurance renewal in the mail, and I see I’ve moved from a 6 star rating to a 5 star rating. I called my insurance company to inquire as to why my rating had changed. They looked into it, and after about 20 minutes they informed me that I was 100% at fault for a collision that happened back in Feb on the DVP. I was like (what kinda smack are you guys smokin?)
After a few escalations and inquiries, a manager at the insurance company read for me word for word outa some \"automotive insurance act\" or something like that. And it described the exact situation where this guy rear ended me, (logically his fault), but as the law would see it, since I was not \"established\" in that lane, the ownership of that lane belongs to the guy who hit the back of my car.
Even though the guy didn\'t actually make a claim, and no money was paid out to anyone, I was still technically 100% at fault for a \"collision\", and therefore my insurance was affected.
I still can\'t believe it could be my fault for a guy driving into the back of my stopped car on the DVP in stop and go traffic, but these are the facts!!!

No offense to anyone on this forum ...
but havent you noticed that most people that drive corollas are mainlanders from china or east indian people ?????
btw , i got hit by a mainlander in a corolla too ....he told me he would cover my damages prior to even seeing the damage on my car. Once he saw the damage, he refused to pay and changed the story. After going to the CRC twice and calling the insurance company about 1000 times, im \"100%\" not at fault. I put the \"100%\" in quotations becuase even though i was not at fault, my insurance still went up. Just face the facts ... collosion (in any shape/form) will result in an increase in insurance.
I was driving my family\'s 96 altima ... there was $2300 worth of damage
His 1988-1992 corolla ... nothing ... he had so many dings/scratches/rust spots that it was not worth fixing
Ill post pics as soon as i get home. ***i get soo angry listening to these stories !!!

In regards to DeLaY_NoMoRe incident.
Is there a basis for fraud?
well the corolla had the motivation,
A scratch on his bumper means he can get the whole pumper painted.
can\'t u sue him for fraud or anything like that?
if he did stop for a person walkin on the road, then shouldn\'t that person have been a witness?
thus, makin the corolla owner a lier.
i know what i said might seem stupid but yeah.

Even though you may have been found 100% not at fault by the law or in the police report, Insurance conduct their own investigations and assign there own fault. So while you could be completely innocent in the eyes of the law, your insurance company may find you 25% at fault.
Please don\'t tailgate ... I\'ve had three incidents in this week alone especially when the snow fell a couple days ago, where moronic idiots tailgated me even in stop-and-go traffic ... with no snow tires on their cars too!!! That or on an incline where I\'m fully stopped and I will roll back a bit before gripping the pavement ... stupid drivers who like to stop just a couple inches away from the car in front.
