While sitting still before the car is moving, I\'d select the ALC to say +3. What happens immediately is that the volume becomes distinctively louder. So then I turn down the volume knob, with the the ALC still set at 3. When I get going and the car speeds up, I do not notice a corresponding increase in volume to offset the road noise. Hence, I always have to manually turn up the volume as I speed up. And when I slow down to slower speeds, the music is too loud and I have to turned it down myself. I realised that this means that the automatic level control is not doing it\'s job then. Do this happen to your car? Honestly, I tried it with both ALC set to 1,2,3 and 0 to see the effects. All I get was that it functions as a limited second volume control.... but definitely not automatic. Anybody else with this problem or was there a TSB on this? Pls help. I\'m going to book a service date soon since I already have close to 6000km on it anyways.:)

The ALC works perfectly fine in both of our 3\'s, however I leave mine off the majority of the time as it\'s not terribly difficult to find my preferred volume level using the steering wheel mounted audio controls. My wife on the other hand always keeps hers on!

I set mine to 1, and I noticed the \"speed-point\" where the ALC kicked in as I speed up, which are 60km/h, then 100 then 120.....at each of these pionts the volumn will increase by 1.:)

I keep it on 1. I find anything over that will distort the music too much.

Alright it seems that you guys have it working for you. Maybe I should get mine checked out by the service guys at my dealership. Do you guys know when it starts to increase in volume? For example, the first increment is when it\'s 50 km/h? 60 ? or... Cause that might help me pay attention to it.
