Light bulb in the ashtray...

How do I remove the bulb in the ashtray? Or is there a fuse that I can remove to shut it off?

I don\'t smoke and use that as a storage compartment, the light coming from that bulb is really bothering me when I drive at night...ideas?

are you talking about the blue light OVER the ashtray or the RED (or white, i forget now) that is visible when you open the ashtray?

I was hoping it won\'t come to that...

Anyhow, I\'m talking about the red light, or yellow light after you take out the insert inside the ashtray.

take off the cupholder+shifter console as shown in this link (http://www.msprotege.com/forum/showthread.php?t=94032)

then remove the 2 screws holding the ashtray/cig lighter housing in place. pull it forward and then remove the harness for the ashtray light (somewhere in this pic):
