I am a newbie here.

Is it normal for Mazda to charge you 10.00 for a rental car when you are bringing in your car for service under warranty?

Do you have extended warranty? It also depends on the warranty procedure that\'s being done. Let\'s say for example your car needs an engine and it\'s backordered. If you bought MAP warranty then after 1 day Mazda pays for the rental. If you didn\'t purchase MAP and the car is still under the 3 years/80,000km then Mazda will pay rental costs after 5 days.

Hi Flipspeed.

They wanted me to bring my car in for the day because of my squeeky clutch so they can have a full day to look at it. Last time they just lubricated it.. =/

I did buy extended warranty.

I just think it\'s wierd that they are going to charge me for this rental car. I can understand the charge if I did something wrong to the car and brought it in for service, but this is a problem with the car.

I would take this issue up with the dealer. If they just wanted to look at your car then it would be up to them to cover a rental for you and not Mazda.

ohhhh, the dealers have their own policy?
ok i just checked. Talked to Avante mazda they said that it is their policy to charge 10 dollars per day.
ugh, I still think the dealer should cover the rental fee. I thought Avante was this glorious place... :P

I mean the 10 dollars isn\'t a lot, but it\'s just the thought that I even have to pay for this. ugh

Got any recomendations for me?

maybe the $10 is for insurance on the rental? or did you decline the insurance and choose to use your own?

\'MAP\' Warranty covers the rental after the first 24 of the vehicle being inoperable, and then they cover the rental if it is a warranty issue. Normally the first 24 hr allow time for the diagnostic.

Exactly the case. Avante covers the rental around $35 a day, part of the $10 covers the insurance so there is no deductible if there is an accident, and I think $1.90 or so is admin.

I am also told that if the problem is reoccuring, and I am told that the squek has returned, you won\'t be paying the $10 twice..

Hey, stop by and say hi when you are here.

OMG I sooo wish I bought my car from you. Geeks know other geeks and that poster just put you up there. My desk says \"if your not confused yet then I\'m not trying hard enough\" (would suck for a sales desk) but I\'m in engineering.
