Hey everyone,

I just wanted to let you all know about H&H Custom Interiors, a private business run by myself and Nick Hermann, based mainly in Scarborough. We are a proud new sponsor here at TM3.

We offer services including painting or recovering interior pieces, reupholstery, and custom fabrication for instrumentation and audio systems. We do our best to work one-on-one with each customer to ensure that the results meet or exceed your expectations for your interior. We work with both leather and ultrasuede, as well as almost any other material you can imagine in your car.

N.B. We do our best to keep costs down for those within the Mazda community - we\\\'re big fans of the cars the company produces, and thus also the people who drive them!

Here are a few pictures of my car, which will always be a work in progress - as both a showcase and testbed for our work! The material used was ultrasuede, and all of the silver and grey in the car has been changed to either black or chrome.

Steve got rid of the crappy factory fuzz on the top of my doors and put on some matt black perforated leather.

Totally love it!!!

Sabio,

I picked up the seats from a fellow Protege owner who already had the brackets from Wedge Engineering. So they bolted right in just like the stock ones. Unfortunately I\'m not a welder so I don\'t make my own brackets yet! However, we\'ll tackle most interior installation jobs.

That\'s actually quite impressive!
It must be hard to follow the curves of the chair and keep the upholstery
so smooth without any creases or folds.

I brought it to show my parents, and when my mom said she was impressed by the chair I knew I must be doing something right lol

Thanks for the birthday wishes!

For each job, obviously the price will vary somewhat based on the material and design. As a ballpark, we can do a full leather interior (front + rear seats) for around $1300, which includes pick-up and re-installation. Normally this would cost around $1500, but of course we\'re providing discounts within the local Mazda community. We are using premium Scottish leather from Andrew Muirhead, which is used in executive aircraft seating and cars such as TVR.

A suede headliner will cost $300 for a hatchback, and $275 for a sedan.

How long would something like this take to do?
Also what other materials do you use other than leather and suede?

I can usually get a set of seats (front or rear) done in a couple of days when time is an issue. I realize that most people use their cars as primary transport, so minimizing downtime is an important. Usually I\'ll try to take the back seats and get them done so you can still drive your car, and then take the front seats and finish them over a weekend, or a couple of days when you can live without the car. If you aren\'t so pressed for time, I would just take the whole set and return them within a week or two.

I\'ll pretty much use any type of material you can find. Leather and suede are the premium choises and obviously carry a higher cost. There are many types of cloth material available, patterned or plain, and I also use vinyl or pleather which comes in almost any colour and texture and is quite durable.

Can I get one of these on my car seats?
http://www.yourcarparts.co.uk/images/interiors.jpg
:p

Actually, does your vynil or pleather look and feel very much like
real leather? How much to do a headliner in that?
It would be good for us smokers, easy wipe down/ clean up!

I can get one of those, I\'ll just have to head down to Jarvis first. It costs extra for a matched pair!

The place I go to for vinyl and pleather has a wide variety - if you let me know what type of look you are after then I can show you some samples first. You can get material that is very close to the look and feel of leather. The cost depends on the material, but will probably be a little less than the suede - say about $270 for a hatch and $230 for a sedan.

Update: Finally added a touchscreen to my dash, which controls my laptop in the trunk. I\'ll post pics of the trunk when it gets finished off later this month.

Also added a 12V outlet in the centre console:

I haven\'t done too much work like that yet, although there was some moulding involved underneath the suede to get the radio in place. Assuming you want the whole thing painted afterwards? It\'s something we can do if you\'re interested.

Just finished off another Protege headliner and door panel inserts:

http://img391.imageshack.us/img391/8586/picture1430he.th.jpg (http://img391.imageshack.us/my.php?image=picture1430he.jpg)

Also colour matched all the upper interior pillars to the gloss black 3-gauge pillar the customer already had installed, and got rid of any gray trim remaining in the car.

bringing this back... So can anyone confirm that an 02-03 P5 has the same seat rails as the 3??

I could pick up mounting rails for a P5 and install my seat that way.....hmmmm (no one has applications for the 3 yet)

Well I can\'t confirm it, but if I get a look at a 3 and my P5 together we can check it out. Chances aren\'t good but you never know.

Hey guys,

Met Steve at SCN. We were right behind the TOP guys at the show. I usually reserve judgement until I see work, and I gotta say these guys do some quality stuff! Saude isn\'t the way I want to go, but the materials and workmanship look great!

Just an FYI for those interested :)

Based on the interest in Sabio\'s shift boot, I wanted to let everyone know that H&H will be doing custom shift boots. I will be starting on some for a few members of TOProtege, and I wanted to let everyone here know about this new product.

This is the pattern we\'re building from:
http://www.srshiftboots.com/images/white.jpg

They will be essentially the same design as Sabio\'s, with 4 panels/4 seams (although we can do different patterns) and triple stitching with your choice of coloured thread. We can also do different colours of leather, perforated or not. I can also alter the height of the boot so it fits your shifter and style preference. Essentially, each one is custom made for your car.

I will be doing these custom shift boots for $50 each. I didn\'t want to step on Sabio\'s toes, so I checked with him first but he isn\'t planning to mass-market these.

bubba1983

not bad....
redlinegood.com charged me abou the same for my boot...so least your spot on for the pricing of these...

hope it takes off...shift boots are a good visual change...bump for you guys..

Do you do embroideries?

I'm curious about possibly embroidering something into my headrests, as well as re-upholstering the headliner to black rather than beige (i really like an all black interior)
