View Full Version : Brake Feel

After having my car for a few days now, is it just me or is the brake feel a little awkward? The pedal travel is minimal, which is fine, but I find that the brakes are either on or off. That is, it takes very little pressure to brake hard in the car. I suspect that this is probably one of the big reasons why the brakes wear so fast. Even when I don\'t want to brake hard, it sometimes does because the pedal is so sensitive.

Anyways, is there anyway to make the brakes a tiny bit \"mushier\". I don\'t want to boil my brake fluid or anything, but I wouldn\'t mind it if it were a little less sensitive to foot pressure.

The problem is you and not the car, give it a chance after some time you will get used to it. When I switch from the Neon to the Mazda 3 the brakes feel touchy for maybe two blocks, but after that I still wish it was more sensative.

I have to agree with MaxRPM and sympathize with you SW20 MR2. I had the same problem going from my Integra to the Mazda 3. On top of which, the Mazda 3 pedals are a little closer together then I was used to. At first I was constantly hitting the side of the break pedal when I lifted off the accelerator. It\'s taken a good two weeks but I\'m used to the distance between the pedals and the break sensitivity you posted about.

Yup, just takes getting used to (both brake pedal feel and the pedals proximity to one another).

Yeah, it\'s not a huge deal by any means, and I\'m sure I\'ll get used to it. It just feels different than any other car I\'ve owned before.

I actually wish the brake and gas pedals were a little closer together.

OMG, if they were I\'m not sure I could drive the car with my big feet :D

Hmm, I\'ll have to ask Jeff about this. Thanks for the info. :)
