So I organized a basketball team at my work to play in the TCSSC Rec League under the impression that the \"Rec\" league was all about people playing basketball pretty much for the first time, learning the rules as you go along etc etc.
I work for a charity and most of co-workers are women....:p .....shut it Broli :hoho
Anyhoo, not a lot of them have the first clue about basketball and thats why I signed us up fot this league. A couple of guys :hoho play but the split is about 9:1 in favor of women.
So they had a game last night, I couldn\'t play cause we just had a baby....:p
The opposing team were calling pretty much every foul going, including loose ball etc..:sarc :(
I mean really, this is a rec league, if you\'re gonna be that competetive, join the league above, and don\'t pick on the teams with low skills, just so you can win.......
Anyone else have experience with the TCSSC, other than last night my experience has been awesome. We should set up a TM3 team and school some other car clubs.....:D :D

I played in the rec and intermediate levels of TCSSC and TESSC leauges for several seasons until life just got too busy. I enjoyed having fun and playing competitive games.
9:1 women to men ratio! Wow, consider yourself lucky. My team always had trouble getting 2 women out to play every season.
Unfortunately there are some people out there who take things way too seriously. I usually won\'t call fouls unless it\'s really obvious, like a player running me over or a really hard hit. But like you said, there are those who think they\'re playing in the NBA and call stuff like hand checks, etc. Don\'t get me wrong, I can get pretty intense during the heat of the game sometimes, but always in a respectful way. I always adjusted my attitude to the way other teams played. If they called ticky tack fouls, then we\'d call ticky tack fouls. If they were more laid back with foul calls, then we\'d be more laid back.
There\'s always going to be a few teams/players here and there you don\'t look forward to playing.
I\'d be up for a TM3 Team :D
I am not sure if it is the same league as yours, but I played on Wednesday with my friend as his team was short players. It was also the rec division. There were guys on the other team blocking some of the girls shots and then looking over to their bench like it was an NBA game and giving Hi-fives. They were pretty rough on defence. I haven\'t played much in the last few years but my friends who play year round told me this was the roughest game they had played for a long time.
Get used to the foul calling. I just about lost some teeth when a guy hit me in the face on a drive to the net, no call. The team would call a foul on every shot they missed.
I didn\'t see one pass to a girl by there other team in the 55 minute game.
We won, but it was only because the guy that thought he was Kobe on the other team didn\'t pass and had a shitty shot. He missed about 95% of the shots he took.

i\'ve played in the dodgeball league and the floor hockey league and there are always players and sometimes even teams that are just rotten all together. I guess that\'s how it is in most things, heck, you can\'t really keep them out of the league can you!? So it\'s just something that we deal with...mostly by winning! :D
some of the venues the tcssc gets are very sketchy as well given their team fees, etc..

Tell me about it, Toronto \"Central\" is not an appropriate way to describe their locations. We\'d have about 4 different gyms per season and every week was a different location. I played as far west as Bloor/Runnymede to as far east as Eglington/DVP.
In Toronto East, at least the gym was actually in the east and it stayed the same location for the whole season.
