Yah we haven\'t had a good number to show but the people that are on that list are definate on going. Our big meet is every last saturday of the month, July 29th falls right on that day.

It was regarding the construction holiday in QC and people said they couldn\'t make the 8th or 15th, sorry I never saved any thread links etc but the 15th was our original day for our meet.

Nice of you to delete my posts on the QC board :sarc I just wanted to know what the hell was going on, I just find it funny that a lot of the QC guys couldn\'t make a meet in ON but have no problems meeting in QC on that same weekend they said they were busy and the drive is about the same for the ON and QC meet.

Microdude by saying reschedule it seems very much like backing out. All you had to say was our numbers might drop due to another meet the week before. Theres no need to reschedule anything...I mean if we wanted a larger number of people to come then we could complain about putting it a little closer to us as well (seeing as its a 5 hour drive right now) but we are not!

I am still wondering why there would be another meet a week prior just as far as this ottawa meet, with all due respect this meet has been under discussion for nearly 6 months now! So I can understand Swales reaction to it all.

I was thinking we can do something like go-karting or paintball etc but the problem with that is the money issue, I don\'t feel comfortable enough paying for all of it out of my pocket and collecting the money later (never turns out nicely) but collecting money beforehand can also be a real pain.

What we\'ll be doing is, having the meet and greet in a park, from there we\'ll be going on a cruise (instead of karting etc as it\'s too hard to collect money in advance) and then stopping for a bite to eat. For the guys staying the night, which is all of you guys, after dinner we can hit up the drag strip (no need for any advance bookings etc so the decision can be made that day) and then hitting the clubs and bars.

Hmmm I\'ve got to work in a visit to the washbays now, when do you guys want to hit the washbays, before or after the Meet n Greet?

Alright guys, I know we have already discussed this, is there any way we can maybe leave at 7pm the Fri. then get a room in Ottawa when we arrive. It\'s gonna be a long drive and aren\'t you guys gonna be a little tired at around 12 in the afternoon. It may make for an unpleasant and grogy afternoon. I think you guys would agree that if we get some sleep we can atleast get by the day. I hope that the decision to leave on the Sat. morning is not because no one wants to shell out more for the Fri. night. How tight can that be.

Anyways, guys I really want to come but I am out numbered here in terms for of asking for an early departure, so I guess I have no choice but to agree unless some of you still want to leave on the Fri. night.

I am still for saturday morning, if it continues on this route, then accomidations still need to be found and by the time you check in and do as you wish, you wont be going to sleep until 2-3am. Its not as much about spending the money but rather wasting it. I\'d have no problem if I was there for 8 or something, but I just cant do it. I also have to consider all my costs are x2, so whats $30 for you is $60 for me.

The main reason I think Saturday is better also is that it makes for a long friday, making you really tired that night to only rest for about 6 hours. So either way you are not going to get a lot of sleep. But to drive after a long day or to drive after having some rest, I vote for driving after some rest.

Not to mention that from 7-12 there are more cops watching over those roads, I think there would be less heat score from 3am-8am. I could be wrong but thats how I see things are around here, I can only assume the same for going there. It was the same idea when I drove to NewYork, the cops were more frequent during rush hour and evening.

By all means if there are others that want to go at 7pm, then go and we will meet you in the morning. I am pretty sure I can head up with bubba on the saturday morning if need be.

I\'ve added my name to the for sure list because at this point i\'m 100% down with going to Ottawa (unless some unforseen circumstance beyond my control comes up) and I have a fairly good idea where Hogs Back park is because a couple of my friends live off of Bronson Ave so i am familiar with the area.

Also i\'m completely ok with the 3am departure time on the Saturday (gives me time to properly wash my car and get a decent sleep for the drive up)

And from the looks of it i\'ll have to back track west to meet up with u guys for the drive because i live in the east end but it would make it much easier on everyone if i just drove out to meet you guys then we all left together from where ever the meeting place is decided upon.

My suggestion for the meeting spot is where the AA meetings are so we have the option of either going south to the 401 or taking 7 all the way to Ottawa. Just an idea

For the drive, I suggest you guys take the 401 and not the 7. I do the Ottawa - TO run pretty often and the 7 can really slow you down.

I\'m down for leaving early saturday morning, the only issue is where to meet (which i know will be posted up here sometime tonite after wings or tomorrow so I\'m not worried about that)

I also suggest taking the 401 it is a nice scenic drive to Ottawa and the 416 is nice and open (especially if we leave at 3am). I only suggested 7 cuz i know u can catch the 417 from it

Is there anyone that does not need accomidations? I know 06Touring3 mentioned friends in Ottawa, so do you plan to stay there or get a hotel/motel with us?
Oh and one other question, whats your real name? :p

Secondly, there are people leaving on friday and saturday so what do we want to do about that? It would be cheaper for you friday guys to get a room for 2 nights as opposed to staying one place one night and another place the other night.

I understand that Broli is bringing 2 other people with him that are definate, one may leave the saturday though... For those who want accomidations, I need to know final numbers to book.

By all means people can find accomidations for themselves as well

Sat July 29th

2:30 (approx)- Driving to a photoshoot location and then going on a cruise

5:00 - Dinner at Heart & Crown - Downtown

7:00 (approx) - Drag Strip

9:30-10pm - Hit the bars/clubs.


First off, I know some of you wanted a later dinner time, but I suspect we\'ll be at least 2 hours at dinner so making it at 5pm will give us time to go to the drag strip.

In regards to the Drag Strip, that Sat is what is known as a Cruise Night so it means it\'s open to the general public. Now in regards to racing, it\'s a very laid back scene in which everyone races and there\'s no need to have ANY mods done to your car. The first time we went out, only 3 cars had minor mods and the rest were BONE STOCK. It\'s just a fun time where you can see how fast you can get your 3 down the track and at the same time see if you can beat your own numbers or those of your friends. Hell last time we were there, a guy was racing a bone stock Dodge Caravan...LOL

The cost of the drag racing is $20 a car load if you\'re racing (you can race as many times as you like) or $10 a car load if you\'re just watching. The track is about 20min from downtown.


Friday Night Activities

For the guys coming up Fri, we\'ll grab a bite to eat when you get here and then we can head to a car meet that takes place every Fri night. There\'s usually 50+ cars from imports to muscle cars.

Sat Morning

For you guys coming up Sat, we can meet up with you guys and head out for breakfast, and then go and wash/detail the cars before we meet up with the QC guys and the rest of the Ottawa guys.

We dont have to sleep this way but we should keep it to 3 per room because its not really all that fair to force 2 people to split the cost of a room so another room can split it 4 ways.

So far I found $100 +tax + $10 a car for parking
*that is at the Four Points which has a pool, spa, fitness room. I know not everyone is looking for something like that but I think its nice for a place to go and relax if we feel. Plus with it being outdoors a lot, a nice place to go and cool down.*

Working on something else for $100 a night, but still in the works.

yah per room! I cant find all the motels but the four points was by in large the most decent price I found. The lowest I found was $88 without the pool and was further out...

I personally would just pay the extra $4 per person to hav a place with a pool & spa plus be closer...all the places I find also are wishy washy in regards to parking.

Called the Holiday Inn downtown and man that can get confusing as they have so many different combo\'s of rooms and pricing...lol From what I gathered, a room with 2 double beds (also has a double pull out couch, so 4 people could actually stay in one room) goes for $112 plus tax if you book and pay in full 7 days in advance, otherwise it\'s $132.

I would say it\'s 15-20min from Hogs Back and about 3 min to downtown, you just have to cross the bridge, it\'s right across the river from Parliament Hill. The only thing is after the bars/clubs you\'ll have to take a cab but it should only cost $10

Okay Okay I didn\'t clue in to someone only going for friday night, why...I dont understand, but thats not my issue!

So I guess what I need to know from you Alex is...Are you going to find somewhere else to stay? I got word of you looking into something else closer to downtown. I need to know that then before we start seperating people into rooms and stuff. If you do end up staying in the same Hotel as us then we can get 1 room for Friday & Saturday and 1 more room for Saturday. We\'ll just mix the guys around, still works out to the same cost per room either way.

3 worked out best because it gave enough places for people to sleep but I got no problem with 4, it cuts the cost down. I would just like to make sure everyone has somewhere to sleep. I am going to try and find the number for Four Points and see if they have a pull out bed in the couch (I just noticed rollaway beds in the room details). I am about 90% sure that I would like to stay at Four Points, and Thomas is pretty set on it as well. So I would like to know your plans Alex. I mean for the cost compared to others, even if I dont use the pool its cheaper then the other rooms and I think the location is good because its not directly in the city but not far either. Just let me know your thoughts and tell me your plans so I dont end up doing more work then needed.

With what swales said, 3 mins from Downtown is not far at all. I dont know Ottawa though, if people care to enlighten me...Oh and I just maped Hogs back to Four Points and it says 8.7 kms (12 mins).

I think the Four Points will work out good for you guys, and it would be much easier if everyone stays in the same hotel. In regards to getting downtown, it\'s REALLY easy. I\'ve attached a google map with the hotel location, and on the map you can see the Alexandra Bridge, you just cross that bridge and you\'re in downtown Ottawa ;) Also, if you guys don\'t plan on leaving too early on Sun, right across the street from your hotel is the Museum of Civilization which is a fantastic place to visit.

Our numbers are now too big (30 people so far) for the Tuckers Marketplace restaurant, so we were able to get a private room at the Heart & Crown which is still right downtown (actually right across from where we\'re going to have to park anyways). Jeanine is new to her P5 and wants to meet some fellow mazda owners, which is cool with me since i\'ve dragged her to enough VW events.
i know there is a few truck stops along the 401 if memory serves me correct there is one east of kingston but i\'m not sure what town it is near but i\'m looking right now but i live a 2 min drive from the CFB Kingston exit.

we don\'t need a hotel or anything since my parents live fairly close to ottawa.
i\'m not sure if i missed any questions but if i did just let me know :)

From VIbrant\'s Headquarters, just slightly North of the 401 at highway 10 (hurontario road), it will take (according to mapquest) 2 hours and 57min....

So i think the departure time is 4am for us? lets say that we\'re lookin at between 7-8am arrival in kingston. Sorry for the big time window, but you can\'t really predict traffic and/or accidents and whatnot. i think realistically, it will be more 7-7:30am....but ill just say 7-8am for arguments sake! Sound good?

well, I just got back from ottawa today and figured out the truck stop I was talking about is an hour past the one you were talking about. I DON\'T feel its fair to make you guys drive an extra hour farther without stopping, so I was thinking that if you guys want to call us when you are pulling into the truck stop then we will be waiting at the second last exit in kingston and when we see you roll by we will just join the pack.
reason being is the truck stop you are talking about is about 30min drive in the opposite direction for me so this way no one does any extra driving :)

1. Accomadations!

The hotel is booked,

Extended Stay Deluxe - Ottawa Downtown

the online booking procedure didn\'t allow for me to change room types
so i am assuming these are two standard rooms, with a king size bed, and one room will have a cot,
we are going to try to get them to swap to double beds, however if this doesnt work, we can ask for cots and say we booked online. I think it will be ok.

One of my friends may not come, so that will raise the cost a touch, but not much.

here is the final word

$78.80 total each!
so give me 80, cause if u give me 78.80 i will kill you!

i will by some coffee for the u guys at the meet, so we will be even steven!

now if my buddy ends up coming (he may) it will drop down to just over 65.00 each, so we will see on that!
