I\\\'m new to this forum, really impressed by the posts here...of course the car itself as well. Got couple questions hoping someone can provide some feedback/comment:

1. Got a deal for the following............is it good?

- 2006 Mazda3 GT Sport
- Black Mica
- Auto and A/C
- NO leather nor moonroof
- Freight & PDE
- No grad rebate (I don\\\'t qualify)
- No cash rebate (I\\\'m leasing)
Total = $24,150 (before tax.) / $27,773 (tax inc.)

2. What does OTR or OTL means?

Thanks for your help guys!

Hi, welcome to TM3.

OTR means On The Road

I don\'t know what OTL means, perphaps On The Lot?

The price isn\'t too bad. For comparison sake, I paid $28,500 for my 2004 Sport GT, Auto, A/C and Moonroof.

OTL means \"Off The Lot\"

If your quote isn\'t from Jeff at Avante I am sure he will give you a quote over the phone. That way you will know if it is a good deal. If it is, call some other dealerships and see if they will beat it.

1. Make sure they don\'t charge you $100.00 for the paint colour.
2. I would agree with Caz and give Jeff a call at Avante.

as a comparison, i bought a M3 GT Sport 5-speed w/luxury package and CD/Mp3 changer last week and paid $26,340 before freight, admin. fee, or any taxes.

...and i paid $105.00 for metallic paint....dammit :(

Two dealerships I went to before seeing Jeff told me the same thing. That the $105.00 paint charge was by Mazda and that it was in the same category as Freight & PDI and could not be altered.

:sarc

Jeff was pretty clear with me as to the required charges that were involved in purchasing the car:

1. Freight & PDI
2. Air Excise Tax
3. Gas Conservation Tax
4. License Registration (Getting new plates or changing them over)

Anything above this (not including accessories) was a cash grab. By the way, what was the \"ADMIN fee\" you are talking about UncleIstvan?

I bet that it would be a cash grab.

When you make your purchase, make sure that don\'t add stuff to the deal at the very end.
It is that old \"bait and switch\" sales tactic some dealers will use. They will start to add some admin fees, discounted maintenance programs, etc. to put more money in their pocket after you have made the deal. They will also try to make you sign the deal that day saying stuff like \"I can only do this deal today\", \"it is our last car in that colour\", etc.

Remember you are spending a lot of money on a new car, you are in control of the whole process.

Trust me when I say this, talk to Jeff Holley @ Avante. He will give you all your options with no pressure to purchase. He will help you find your best deal and save you money.

my bad. there was no admin fee. its just listed on the bill but there\'s no charge associated to it.

that price sounds really good for the 2006 model.. oh, if you don\'t mind saying, which dealership did you go to for that quote??

and welcome to the forums..

If you price the car on mazda.ca you get something like $25,095 ($28,860 after tax). So the quote of $24,150 ($27,773 after tax) is alright provide there is no extra fees.

I think you could get that price lower. I know the mark-up on the car is more than what you appear to be saving and there could also be some factory to dealer incentives that could help lower the price some more. I would shop around and see what happens. Even if you save another $500, it could go towards snow tires or mods (if that is your thing).

Just my 2 cents.

UncleIstvan.. How did you end up paying $26,762.10 with a $5000 trade-in, when momo got a quote of $27,773 (assuming without a trade-in). A difference of about $1000.

Never pay full MSRP for a Vehicle.
They knocked off a $1000 on my car.
If a dealer says {i]\"they can\'t lower the price\"...\"there is not alot of room to work with\"...\"these cars are selling fast\"[/i]
Tell them to take a Flying F\'n Leap and go somewhere else.

And don\'t pay for the paint. Tell them to take off $105 from the MSRP or take $150 some accesories.

I got my 2006 GT sport without LP auto and sunroof for $30k on the road. And that was last year september. But I traded in an old corolla for $6k so it was $24k. Now paying $450 a month financing at 5.9%.

I got the \" not alot of room\" talk, but for a very good reason. I paid $25,924 taxes in. 05 gt sport, no mp3, or leather. Trade in of 1k. My deal, and i suggest everyone look into this in the future, plans offered by your workplace. I got eh x-plan on my M3, and got such a good deal, my dealer wouldnt even throw in the mazda hat! Oh well, got a nice car out of the deal!

Brando , How much did the x plan save you? I get it also through my job but the dealer hasn\'t told me exactly how much it will be yet. I will have to wait until I pick up mine and sign the papers.

Basicly the x-plan is approx. dealer plus 4% plus pdi, plus gas tax from what i can remember. MY overall $ savings was about 3000 dollars (with a trade in of 1000) So, for all the paper-work and people calling to confirm that you work who u say you work for, $2000 in my opinioin was worth it! For more information about the x-plan see flipspeed hes a dealer hell have more of the dealer side information, you can also check out (the sites been down for a little bit though) .HERE (www.forpartner.com)

If the sites still down, heres the step-by-step\'s for x-plan. Hope this helps!

I bought a used 2005 Mazda 3 GT with leather, GFX(moonroof, 17\" wheels etc) for $25,500 OTR with only 3,000 km. The used route is not a bad way to go if you can find a low mileage model. there is always some risk involved but my car is basically brand new and I got it for about $2,000+ less.

You avoid the freight and other ancillary costs this way too.
