this device (http://www.thefuelgenie.com/) was found at the 2006 auto show I was very skeptical about the device and I decided not to buy it after talking to their high pressure sales person.

I\'ve read a Consumer Reports review (http://www.consumerreports.org/cro/cars/maintenance-accessories/gassaving-devices-1105-fuel-efficiency-improve-gas-mileage-gas-prices.htm) on this device and I\'m glad I didn\'t buy it but has anyone tried it and can give me an opinion on it?

Personally I think such a device restricts airflow and the \"venturi\" effect the guy was pushing wouldn\'t be enough to counter the airflow impedence. In fact how venturi\'s work is they speed up the airflow due to constriction and once the constriction is widened again the air flow slows to the normal speed. So basically all effects of this venturi would be at the fins of the device and once the air passes the device it gains no additional speed (conservation of energy law).

Causing the air to spin IMO would be a loss for the 3 since in my 3 there isn\'t a long straightaway to allow a cyclonic effect to happen in fact the air would hit a bend and loose the ability to form a tornado like cyclone.

Anyways watch out remain skeptical at the autoshow and if you really do get one let us know how it performs since I was skeptical but I\'ll still keep an open mind for independent reviews.

isn\'t this thing just like the \"tornado\" device that they used to sell a few years back???
I gotta buddy who actually bought one... WORTHLESS.. does absolutley nothing

They go by a bunch of names and makes, tornado, cyclone, fuel fury.... etc.

Through non subjective tests they all prove to be worthless.

If you want to save fuel, change your oil over to synthetic, and if you got spare cash get a cold air intake, and a more free flowing exhaust. More surface area at the filter will alow a more unrestricted airflow, none of this twirly cyclone business.

And of course synthetic works because it decreases friction.

my $0.02. Oh an let\'s not forget if it sounds too good to be true it is.

I could start making these things out of tin foil and if it doesn\'t fly into your intake I\'d make a fortune!

There are a few basic facts.

Assuming your engine won\'t get more efficient all of a sudden.

More horse power = more fuel / air mix.

More air without more fuel in the right ratio = same power / loss power.

increase of up to 35 horsepower

When numbers are too high you might want to think again. If a high performance cold air intake ( http://www.knfilters.com/search/product.aspx?Prod=69-6010TR ) for $200+ only improves hp by 5.2 HP @ 4500 RPM I doubt a scrap of metal will do 35 or even 10 is pushing it. And I much rather trust K&N Dyno proven products versus these gimmicks without any actual non human subjectified results.

Don\'t CAIs/SRIs reduce fuel economy, since more air is detected by the MAF, thereby the ECU gives it more gas to maintain the specific A/F ratio??

Maybe, at any rate I doubt the statement increases HP while reducing fuel consumtion.

Assuming that the auto manufacturer\'s did a pretty good job with efficiency as is there isn\'t alot of head room to get instant gains without changing their existing setup drastically.

I can\'t believe people are actually discussing this obvious junk.
It\'s been junk for years now....it\'s nothing new.

This thread should be deleted and put in the stupid section

Perhaps you can\'t believe people are still discussing it but I can\'t believe people are still buying it.
