this guy claims you can use your remote to unlock ur car through a cell phone.. sounds like a lot of BS to me because it doesn\'t make any sense.. but funny to read through the thread.. only the one guy claims it works while everybody else is jumping all over his back..

He\'s pulling a lot of legs because one of his recent posts stated his friend with a Mazda Speed 3. :sarc

Alright someone bring their extra key fob to the March 25 meet and we\'ll give it a go. :p

Well my buddy and I tried this. He was in the tim hortons bathroom a hundred feet away or more. I was standing beside his skyline having a smoke and he called me on my cell. Hit his remote alarm button and his lights flashed and it unlocked. I was shocked I didn't even know he was doing it until after the lights flashed and I asked him what the heck he did. I can't see his remote working from inside cement walls in a washroom... but who knows.

I mean my alarm won't unlock or lock from 25 feet away and he has the same system as I do... Maybe the antenna works better on his... or this actually does work. Meh.

Just posting on maybe it has some truth! Mine would never work from inside a building. It won't even work from inside my house lol. Maybe compustar does...

You'd be surprised at how far they work from.

After my Sunfire, which you had to practically touch with the remote to make it work, I'm loving the one with the MS3 that I can use from indoors or far away. :bana

If you hold the remote under your chin and touch it using the antenna of the remote, it will use you/your head as an extension and improve the range.

The standard remotes that come with the car also work better depending on Line of Sight, what's between you and your car (metal, concrete, etc).

heh. They did that chin thing on MythBusters. I can't remember though whether it worked or not. For some reason, I think it actually did...

It actually does. Because your conducting the signal. I like watching Mythbusters too :)

If I'm not mistaken, weren't they a bit put off by the idea of using your brain as an antenna? :chuckle

My response to that is...What do you think your cellphone is doing?

I'm thinkin that some remotes use radio frequency that we dont hear, but speaker in cell phone can reproduce the same frequency, so they can open it.

Just a thought.

Well here goes whitespeed3's car was used to test the theory he went ways away from his car he called us on a cell phone we held the phone to where the reciever of the car sits and it took a couple of tries but it worked You just have to be patient

yup it works i opened my car at the la paloma meet

but it took a while to get it to work

im guessing the cell phone frequency picks up the remote signal and unlocks it

vigorous testing has confirmed that this does work
