Added content is needed for the 4th year of production (and possibly the last) of this body/chassis series to remain competitive with the latest model releases from other manufacturers. Recent letters to the Wheels section of The Toronto Star today pointed out the safety concerns of potential buyers who were looking for side impact airbag protection not offered in the current Mazda 3. Mazda Canada has wisely added content enrichment over the last two model years to keep sales growing with the Mazda3, although the newest Honda Civic has established new benchmarks for this class with resulting sales increases. The addition of HID in 2007 is welcome but the aftermarket always responds to shortcomings with manufacturers offerings with inexpensive upgrades offered as an alternative. I see no compelling reason to upgrade to the 2007 if you have a 2004 at lease expiry - wait for the next generation Mazda3 in 2008/2009 for really big improvements.
Perhaps Mazdaspeed3 will pave the way for redesigned front/rear clips offered on the Sport for 2007.

My attention is on the redesigned Toyota Camry for 2007 - proof that Toyota is serious about grabbing the number one position as worldwide sales leader - and a testament to excellent build quality from North American assembly.:p

As much as I like hearing about the updated features for the 3, I hate it even more :( I guess that\'s what you get for buying the first production year. It was original while it lasted. All great features. I like the heated seat one for cloth seats as well. I\'m sure not as cold as leather, but still because they are pretty firm and thin they feel alot colder than other cars.

The content is absolutely needed when nearly every other car in the economy class has the SAB, ABS options at least available or standard. I predict this will help with Mazda continuing strong Mazda 3 sales as now the choice of what car to buy is based more on price/driving impression/ and general feelings as opposed to base equipment (especially for those safety \'minded\').

Any idea if there are significant price changes to recoup the extra content cost?

The basic warranty on Mazda vehicles covers all parts found to be factory defective for 36 Months or 80,000 km, whichever comes first. Additional warranties cover Powertrain components for a period of 5 years or 100,000 km whichever comes first, body sheet metal perforation for 5 years and unlimited mileage and specific emission control components for up to 8 years or 128,000 km.

No doubt, but they aren\'t enough to consider upgrading from an older model year IMO.

From what I can see it looks like they changed the side skirts, right by the wheel wells at both front and back. It isn\'t as smooth as the previous style. They should have gone with a much more aggresive change or kept it the same, IMO. I bet they have tried to resolve the problem of the skirts getting stone chips at the back of the passenger door.

I think the new grill is cool.

I hate the new fog lights. :zzz

I am kinda seeing the Corolla likeness from the pic as well.. yikes. I don\'t ever think Corolla when I look at my 06. I will reserve final judgement for when I see it in person. But from the pictures so far... no big deal... hate the wheels. I only like some of the new features :)

That is a total understatement.... What civic comes with HIDs, Auto Climate Control LED Tail lights and Automatic wipers?

Honestly, the 3 has some features that you would expect to only find on BMWs


As for the HID Conversion..... I might try to keep my current HID kit, and jsut get the HID housing to get the projector lense.... get that NICE cut off. I\'ll wait and see if it\'s possible. If not, then I\'m going to trade up for a Mazda3 MPS in 2008 or 2009.

A new website i found out. Imo the black bottom grille is ruining the overall image. Any comments? Also it only has 1 V on the upper grill with logo, instead of 3 as in before, closer together. Lots of bugs will get it? :p

In the pictures, there are ROUND foglights, so im leaning to believe that the square one and the funny grill are for the MPS version, not the regular mazda 3, which is a good thing. Plus \"The Mazda3’s MZR 2.0-litre engine now features sequential valve timing and an electronic throttle. Overall comfort has also been significantly upgraded with more insulation against road noise, revised tyres and reduced suspension vibration.\" AWESOME!

round fogs for GS... square for GX and GT ??

The redesigned rims on the Sport Hatch is fugly...it looks like veins of some sort. I don\'t mind the new rims on the seadn tho.

What\'s with the Corolla square foglights? I prefer the more retro circle fogs any day.

Other than things like auto climate, extra airbags, HID option, the 2007 doesn\'t offer that much over the previous years other than a slight face lift.

yeah the new 3s are nice... except theres one thing. the air dam in the front of the mz3 sport is lacking. what happened to the body coloured one like in the 06 or even the 07 sedan - i guess that could be a possible distinguishing factor btwn the mz3 gt etc. & the mz speed 3 :O

The lack of AUX port or a CD player that plays mp3s should be standard for a car that is aimed at the youth market.

How much would the 6CD/MP3 player set me back?

Basically, if the prices don\'t go up by much, it may be worth it to buy a 07 model just for the safety features, especially if you want to keep the car for a while.

well i remember i or someone else brought up that the 6CD changer is hypothetically an mp3 player, because it has 6CDs on 1 CD, and mp3 has 6CDs on 1 CD. But technically it doesnt play the MP3s.

But if the 07 DOES play MP3 and is a 6CD changer, then thats just wicked.

The Dealer installed one is an MP3 and I should mention is the only MP3 available..

The one that comes with the Luxury Package is ONLY a 6 indash changer

on Mazda.ca you can compare the 3 to other vehicles. You can actually select the 2007 mazda 3.

The pic of the car is different if you select 2006 or 2007 but the price stays the same.
Now wouldn\'t that be nice if it did :)

Please note that these are still European \'prototypes\'. For instance no headlight washers, and for those of you who looked close at the \'key\' in the steering column... I don\'t think they will come with the smart keyless entry like the MX-5, MS6 and the RX-8... would be nice, but not likely

Although the new standard features are a definate plus, the price will no doubt go up. Also, I can\'t say I like any of the new styling - with the exception of the new HVAC controls. I really don\'t like the rims. The new manual shifter looks like a step backwards IMO.
