And I assume that with a new car, I get 2 programmed keys....
Correct. You should get 2 keys and 2 remotes with your new car. Then you can use those to program the new flip key.

How much to cut a blank key? would anyplace be able to do it?
Anyone can cut a blank key for you but you won't be able to start the car unless that key is programmed.
If you are thinking of buying the flip-key, just pm FLIP.
...i think you can cut your key at CT for ~$5 (?)...

Hey FlipDaddy, im all the way up north in Sudbury but I want to get a flip key. I'm trying to decide how though...
- What are the actual prices (without the tm3 discount) if I were to order it from any Mazda dealer? Do I need to quote the part numbers?
- I'm trying to arrange for someone in TO to pick up the key & remote. If that works out, how much would it cost to get the key & remote from you? (I'm assuming I can get the key cut here in sudbury from any key cutting place, right?)

The regular price would be $96.41 taxes in without the TM3 discount. I highly doubt that your local dealer will know the proper part numbers required to do the mod.
If you can get someone to pick up the key it will cost you $77.13 taxes in. I can cut a dummy blank for you.

Oh for those buying the flipkey off of ebay be cautious. I cut a key for someone and the key would not program. Not all the flip key parts are the same for all Mazda's. The flip key for the 06 MPV cannot be programmed to work with our 3's.

BTW: It's the car that gets programmed, not the key (or the remote). The codes in the remotes and keys are fixed. The dance you have to do with keys, the door, and the ignition is convice your car that the key or remote is legit.

Does the trunk only work for the Sedans? I assume theres only this version where the key flips to the left side. Are there any that flip to the right side?

The trunk button doesn't work at all, sedan or hatch. No support for it in the cars. As for flipping out the other side... I highly doubt it.

Cut it at the dealer free of charge and programmed my key myself and works like a charm. Thanks Flip! Took me few tries to program it. Few things to point out, is that you can have a max of 3 keys, but you can program only 2 sets by using 3 sets of keys. Also the steps have to be prformed quick and precise.

well, the key does fit into the right side of the steering column so you'll have to be holding the key in your right hand anyways.. I suppose that's the main reason the key only flips out the one way.

this weekend, I got a flip key, the recomended part #s from this thread, for my new mazda3 (about 1m old, so, assuming an 8.5, but I could look if anyone wants to know). They key works great, programing was a breeze. The remote, however, not so much. I know i've got the car in the programing mode, as i'm able to get response from my other remotes, but it dosn't respond at all to the flip remote, and of course, after exiting the programing mode, dosn't work.
Perhaps some change in the 8 or 8.5? Anyone have any luck programing the remote pictured with a very recent model? I do get a light on the remote with button presses, so, fairly sure it's not a battery issue. Could be a bad remote, but i'd have no way of determining that without getting another one, which I'm understandably reluctant to do without ensuring there hasn't been some kind of compatability change.

K I just got flipkey for my 08.5gt and works great, where did you get it from? and which car is it from? it has to be mazda5 or rx8 i think. And you gotta follow the programming instructions carefully but quick. Also use one of your other remotes in your ignition not your flipkey. Becasue whatever is in the ignition will not get programmed but other 2 will. Try to redo it.

I got the key and remote from my dealer, I gave them the Mazda part numbers listed elsewhere in this thread.
I tried it with both the remote and a different key in the ignition, nither worked. However, I doubt it's a timing issue. For one, Timing isn't nearly the issue for the remote procedure as it is for the key procedure. Remember, My key works great! The remote programing is what is causing the issue.
I got a slightly different remote that is purported to work better, dosn't have the trunk button, etc.
However, on a very sad note, I won't be able to do any more testing at all on this until late july. My wife rear ended an SUV last week, so, I'll not be seeing my poor mazda for some time. So, I have no idea if my new remote will work, or if any suggestions folks can offer will work.

You shouldn't have any issues at all. As long as you have 2 original keys and 2 original remotes you're good to go.

From a US board... note that part about:
Note: All 2007+ US Mz3 models (MS3 included) have a different KEU than that in earlier models. Currently there are NO flip key remotes that can be programmed with the US 2007 Mz3 computer. Canadian owners should still be able to buy the Canadian Mz3 flip key.

Please read the question carefully. The key part of what is mentioned in this thread works fine for US vehicles. The remote portion, however, DOES NOT. Another poster found what I did, after some further digging. ALL US MAZDA3'S 07 AND LATER DO NOT RESPOND TO ANY FLIP REMOTE CURRENTLY KNOWN.
The key works fine, and in fact, I'm using mine now that I have my car back. However, the fact that the remote doesn't work kind of defeats part of the point of having a flip key, namely, less crap on my keychain.
Note, as far as I can tell from searching, this only applies to US vehicles. I realize this is a Canadian forum, but it is also one of the top, if not THE top, search result on Google for a Mazda3 flip key, so you're probably going to see a lot of US visitors as well, and it pays to be clear that this thread does not work completely for new model US cars.
That is, unless ANYONE has any experience to the contrary, with the REMOTE portion of the flip key working (not JUST the key portion)

Hey guys - an update.
I have my girl's remote's info, which is:
I have a Canadian Mazda3, for which the US-spec Mazda3 flip key works. My remote info is:
FCC ID: KPU41846
IC: 4238A-41846
VISTEON: 41846
However, the info on the one from ebay is:
FCC ID: KPU41788
IC: 4238A-41525
VISTEON NO. 41524
Now, two questions:
1) The auction says it works on a Mazda6, and that's what we need. But my number's are different - Will it work?
2) How come my FCC, IC and Visteon nubmers all ahve the same "41846" in it, whereas the ebay one is all different?

It looks identical to the key part which works perfectly in my Mazda, but nither remote I have works for me. Don't know if it's your key part that needs replacing, or the remote part, but I'd be willing to hook you up with one or possibly both. Send me a message about it. It shouldn't be much $$, I had written these parts off as waste on an effort that unfortunately failed, or, became too cost prohibitive to continue. From what I've read, however, if you have a CA mazda, these might work fine for you.
Send me a message if you're interested!

After I've read this post, I definetly want to get this flip key. I'm actually planning on going to the dealer and picking one up tomorrow. Just wanted to make sure I have the right info in hand. As I understand it the only flip key that will work is the one from the mazda6?? Now is that hatch or sedan? and what years?? a part # would be great! I'm really stumped with your dilema. The only thing I can think of that could have happened is that they sold you the flip-key from the MPV. It looks exactly the same as the one's majority of the members have. Only it cannot be programmed to work on our 3's.

Post up the part numbers... you need separate the button and key portions to see the numbers. You can get the two halves of the key apart by using a small screwdriver to press in the latch that holds them together... it's at the bottom of the slot the key folds into.

Here's one.. how about a NORMAL KEY?! I want to know if I can buy and program a normal key.. the dealer here says no way.. yet in the states, and all the pics I've seen (thank you Car & Driver), the Speed's have normal keys..
I just want a normal key in case of anything..
I have two flip keys, but want a third, normal one..
Is this possible, and if so, how much??

This is for the 2010 3, and it is not a flip key. The fob is a keyless entry/start setup, with a removable key in case the battery dies or if you want to start the car and leave it locked and running.

I am looking for a flip key + 3 buttons remote for my 2009 M3 Sport.
Yesterday I asked Markham Mazda and Avante Mazda, they quoted me the key at $65.71 and the remote at $144.94 = total of $210.65.
Where can I get the flip key + 3 buttons remote at lowest price in Toronto, ON?
Will these work on my 2009 M3 Sport?
G2YA-76-2GXB - Flip Key ($37.93)
GP7A-67-5RYB - Remote ($25.50)
Can please someone help me out?

He is wrong. Your hatch is already open when you unlock the doors. The sedan is the only one that I'm aware of that has the ability to add a trunk popper, but I still don't think it will work with the remote (trunk release button specific) as proven in the past.

Hi Everyone,
I used to have 2 remotes. Now only have 1. Thanks to my 2 year old Golden Retriever who thinks if it is in view he gets to eat it. Anyways, I saw this post and thought about getting the the flip key for me and my wife can have the other remote.
My 1 remote has the following:
Mazda
P/N:0000-8F-F06
FCC ID:GOH-PCCEN2
IC:3954A-TN400
P3465
4 Buttons (panic, lock, unlock, start)
My wife went to go to the store and she used her key and when she unlocked and opened the door, the car alarm went off, since she did not have the remote she had to run back into the house and grab my keys to turn the alarm off. Is this normal? I thought since she had a key that would unlock and start the car that everything would be ok, guess not.
What costs would I be looking at for the flip key? or if I just wanted to get another regular remote. I also should mention that the car has remote start as well, not to sure if this would be a problem with the flip key.
Thanks for the help.

You have the OEM remote starter. Do you have your original 3 button remote? They're suppose to keep them in your glovebox or give them to you. A flip-key won't solve your problem since the mazda remote starter has an extra panic feature.
The alarm will still go off. So you would need to get a replacement remote starter transmitter.

Has anyone seen the 2010 Mazda3 key fob conbination?
Does it flip out and can we CUT and PROGRAM it for 2004-2009 Mazda3 models?
I was looking to find out if anything came from this?
FlipDady posted pics of the '10 Mazda3 Key but not the Flip Key here (http://www.torontomazda3.ca/forum/showpost.php?p=383447&postcount=333).... No one confirmed if the '10 Flip would work with any 04-09 model (unless I missed it somewhere, which is quite possible).
And here (http://www.torontomazda3.ca/forum/showpost.php?p=81944&postcount=1), in the very first post it lists that the transmitter for the Mazda 5 works but I thought read it somewhere in here (can't find it right now) that a Mazda5 Key/Transmitter wouldn't work.
From what I gather from here, please correct me if I'm wrong, the transmitters from Mazda6 sedan, RX-8, Miata or Mazda5 will work and since all the flip keys are the same any uncut for these will work, is that right?
Could anyone with a 06 Mazda please confirm if the FCC ID SKE125-01 will work?
I found this on ebay (http://cgi.ebay.ca/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=260455017316&ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT).
Hi there,
I have very similar questions to many members here...
I am currently looking for a spare set of flipkey + remote for my 2009 Mazda 6 (Canada). I've tried a couple of ebay sellers without any luck because we are in Canada. Here is what I've found out from the local Mazda dealership:
KEY G2YA-76-2GXB $68.36
REMOTE GS4B-67-5RYA $154.58 (dealer claimed this is different from 2008)
Of course, I am not going to buy them at that price from the dealership. But I could not find a reliable source/shop to get the remote part of the set. The remote part # is different from "GP9C675RYB" and I am wondering if it's a different remote for sure for the 2009 Mazda 6 (Canada)?
Further more, when I opened the key, I've found the following:
5WK43451D
HP315MHZ
032908
No FCC# or ID#.....
Any suggestion or advice?
Regards,
Andy

I was there 2 days ago and needed a FOB reprogrammed and a key made and was going to go with the flipkey and those prices are right. Unfortunately, the tech could not seem to get the flipkey to work with my car ('06 3 Sport) so I just went with the key and my spare fob.
BTW..the Fobs by themselves (not the flip ones) are almost $200. It's ridiculous.

I went to MoT. The tech couldn't (supposedly) get the flip-key (fob part) to work with the car so instead he ended up just doing a key alone (since I had a spare fob anyways, it wasn;t a huge deal). They charge an hours labour for it too...good thing the dealer where I bought my car is paying for it,

I'm sure it did originally. When I got it the dealer only had 1 key and 1 fob. When I picked it up he had managed to find another fob, although that fob needed to be programmed to the car. Thus I got that fob programmed and a key made and programmed.

His remote (FCC ID: BGBX1T478SKE125-01.) won't work for M3 YR05 for sure (I think it will work for different model like M5 or M3 YR > 08) because I have one in my hand but the key does work. If you want to buy for 04-06 M3, then uses these numbers bellow

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/UNCUT-2005-2006-2007-2008-2009-MAZDA-3-5-6-Key-BLADE_W0QQitemZ400098554610QQcmdZViewItemQQptZMoto rs_Car_Truck_Parts_Accessories?hash=item5d27bb72f2
Or you want to save money, go to Rone/HD to cut a key about $3.29 then uses some tool to cut the end the same in the picture above or uses the one you're already have to make at a template to cut it. The key blank plus transponder is for $57 from the dealer.

Hi there,
I have very similar questions to many members here...
Regards,
Andy
I just wanted to keep the forum updated on my quest of finding a spare switchblade key.
Because the 2009 Mazda 6 were giving me a lot of problems (for a brand new car), I actually ended up with a 2010 Mazda 6. This time around, I have the FCC ID (BGBX1T478SKE12501SKE125-01) and was able to find a seller on ebay that carried a “4 button” switchblade key for the Mazda 6. Most of the SKE12501 remotes are of 3-button version on the web. Note: I don't think the part number matters much if you have the correct FCC ID...
The most difficult part of the whole thing was finding the correct remote with the matching FCC ID. And then, getting the key cut at local locksmith. The easiest part being the programming the key fob and the remote using instructions found on many Mazda forums.
It's good to have a cheap spare key. :)

My remote just died, so I may as well do the flip key thing. Thing is, I bought my car used and only got 1 key and remote, so I'm gonna have to get a dealership to program it.
Getting the key section, the remote, having the key cut and then the remote programmed... This is going to be at least $300, isn't it?

Actually no, there is no need to get it programmed from the dealer. If you purchase it from Joe at MoT, he will cut the key for you free of charge and you can program it yourself. It comes with instructions on how to program and it can be done in like 4 minutes. Its extremely easy to do.
As for having only 1 key, i think that will work too. Because from what I recall, you stick your original key in first, and then u put in the flip key and u do something. The instructions are on the site somewhere, i've seen it. You need to search it up. Im pretty sure you only need 1 key to program it
From what I've read, you will need two keys to program the 3rd key. But for remotes, you can program the 2nd one even if you just have one.
Think about this, key is more important than remote. If it only takes one key to program the spare key, any friend or person that borrow the car from you can potentially have a dup. key...

If you don't have any remote at all. I think you can program it because everytime you do, it will erase the old remote from ECU (I think what it called) which wait for program remote to responde to it (Max out 3 remotes).

I think this (FCC ID: BGBX1T478SKE125-01.) will also work for 2009, if you know someone has it then ask them let you borrow and try to program it. If it works then you know what FCC ID you're looking for.

The safest way is to get the remote part from MoT (better yet, get the whole thing). The key part you can get from ebay as its the same for all years (it should be way cheaper than getting it from the dealer and you can get it cut pretty much anywhere (few exceptions ofcourse).

If anyone goes and follows the steps that Ryan (cwp_sedan) posted on that picture, make sure that when you're done locking and unlocking the doors with the power locks and you put your key into the ignition, make sure to turn it to ON and OFF THREE times within 10 seconds before attempting to open and close the drivers door. 2) IF I was to go the route of getting on of the OEM ones off Ebay, and even tho they say it will work for my Mazda 3 GT 2006, the FCD ID don't match up (Mine is KPU41846), is there a difference than that one shown here BRAND NEW MAZDA KEYLESS ENTRY REMOTE KEY FOB UNCUT!!! (http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=190494689392&viewitem=&sspagename=STRK:MEWAX:IT#ht_1392wt_1165). I know that will be $50 shipped to me, then I would have to pay for cutting and then reprogram myself, but it would save a trip to Toronto.
3) If you do ship, can you program it as well? My friend lost her second key while in Detroit and is not having issue with Windsor Mazda to get a replacement key... they want to charg her something ridiculous like $300!!!
4) What is the MAIN difference between the Canadian FCC# for the FOB and the American FCC#?
Thanks for any help everyone!

Hey FLIPDADY,
I just got a 2006 mazda3 sport and I was wondering whether it's possible to make a flip key for my car.
Also, I would like to know the price of it if you can make them!
Thanks!

I got my from Joe aka Flipdady for roughly $80+tax.
My car is a 2008, but I don't think that matters much.

Danggggg, that's pretty pricey eh. Is it exactly like the original mazda flip keys?
Do you feel like it was worth it though?

That is a high price. Was that for 2 keys?

The flipkey comes in two pieces; the remote and the key, which snap together. Both together, plus programming and cutting, is $197 taxes included.

My friend is looking to install a keyless entry kit and wanted a flip key as well.
She has a 2010 M3 GS sedan.
Know any shop that can give her a good price?
Impressive

If you have 2 keys already, and visit Joe at MoT you'll only pay $96 if you're capable if programing it yourself (very simple).

How does the 2010 GS not come with keyless entry?!
maybe an early production 2010. as the later production with the slight bumper change maybe it was something they added as my gs sedan has a flip key and the gfs hatch gx has one as well.

It won't work with your car with this FCC ID. This one (FCC ID: KPU41788) will work for 05 Mazda 3 hatch and I think 04 Mazda has the same if your remote has FCC ID: KPU41846

Programming for the key around $100 plus tax.

CAN ANYONE HELP!
I recenlty purchased a key switch blade remote for my 2007 Mazda 3 Sport U.S. version. The model and manufacturer code for the remote is Visteon 4238A-41525. My question is "Does this model remote only work on the Canada Car Models? I took the remote to a Mazda Dealership here in Cerritos California, and they managed to program the key for the ignition only and not the door remote functions. I found that strangely odd since I purchased the remote from a company website who deals only with car remotes, and is located in the U.S in the state of Ohio. Their website clearly stated that the remote would work on a 2007 Mazda 3 model. To make matters worse, when the technician keyed the blade it would only work for the ignition, and not the door. Therefore, I currently have a remote that will only work to start the car, and has no access of entry. Is there a way to program the remote to work for the lock/unlock functions? Is it possible the technician was doing something wrong or didnt know the current ay to program these functions on this type of remote? I require your expertise in this matter and would greatly appreciate any information you can provide to resolve this matter.
Thank You in Advance!

Step 1: Open driver side door and leave open.
Step 2: Lock and Unlock the drivers door using the power door lock switch on the door
Step 3: Insert key into the ignition.
Step 4: Turn Key to ON position and return to Lock (off) position. Do this 3 times within 10 seconds. LEAVE key in the ignition in Lock (off) position.
Step 5: Close and open the drivers door 3 times. Leave door open after this step
Step 6: ECU should respond by locking and unlocking the doors once.
Step 7: Press any button on remote #1 twice. ECU responds by locking and unlocking the car doors.
Step 8: Additional remotes, repeat Step 7 for up to 3 remotes total.
Step 9: Remove the key from the ignition and the ECU will respond a final time with a series (about 4) of door locks and unlocks. You're done!

Thanks for the instructions...I followed it step by step, but still no response from my remote. I did some further investigation, and I have been informed that there is currenlty no flip keyless remote that will work on any U.S. Mazda 3 2007 and newer Models. However the instructions you provided are correct. and I will need to go out and buy a remote that does not have a flip key attached. Thanks Again!

It's been a month now since I switched over from a 1999 Honda Civic SI to a 2007 Mazda 3 Sport (U.S. Model). I must admit I do enjoy driving my Mazda 3, except for 1 minor dilema. I recently purchased a flip key remote for my car and I come to find that the car will not transmit with the unlock/door functions on the remote. I have done a lot of resarch latlely, and I have discovered that there is currently no flip key remote for any Mazda 3 2007 - Higher Models. I am filing a claim against the company who sold me the remote stating that it would work on my vehicle; all I am asking is for a refund. Anyhow, with that said I was still able to program the other part of the remote to the ignition to start my vehicle. However, the key that was cut on the remote will fit into the ignition and turn, but when I insert the key into the door key hole to open manually it will not work. Does this just mean it's a bad duplicated key or does the fact that the unlock/lock features on the remote transmitter do not work have something to do with it?
