I know that 4100k produces pure and bright white, while 6000k is a bit blueish, which do u guys prefer? is one brighter than the other?

41000K-4300K is brighter than 6000K.

But most people will prefer 6000K because of the nice colour output.

I have 4100K HIDs. Nice bright white light, nothing fancy or special.

If you want the best of both worlds go for the 5000K...

In my opinion.... it really depends on a) what colour you want your lights to be and b) How much light do you want?

From what I have gathered from the forums, this is a summary (only listing the colours that I have seen... totally based off of MY opinion):

Excellent Output = Really bright, ultimate HID output
Very Good Output = Average for aftermarket HID kits
Good Output = Better than decent output, but more for the colour
Fair Output = All for show, only ~2x brighter than halogen
Unsatisfactory Output = not worth upgrading from stock halogens

Prolumen:
5000k - Crystal Clear white light, very good output
6000k - Lightly purple, not much blue, good output
8000k - Blue, little white, fair output

Xtec:
5000K - Slight blue/purple mix in colour, Light produced is white with a touch of blue, very good output
6000K - Blue-ish purple, good output

Philips:
4300K - Crystal Clear white light, excellent output. Closest to OEM HID colour, but better output. Expensive (~$700/kit)
5000K - White with a touch of blue, more white than the Xtex 5000\'s. Very good output. Also expensive.

Other:
8000K - Usually too purple. Light output isn\'t fantastic.
10000K - Blue and no other colour. Fair output
12000K - Retardedly blue. Not much better than halogens except for colour. Comparible to Blue LED colour. Unsatisfactory output.

I have the Xtec 5000K. Fantastic kit. A bit more blue than OEM HIDs, but output is definately higher. My brother has the 4300K Philips. Those are amazingly bright. Crystal clear white light. When going through a projector, it produces a nice prism effect (the purple spots above cut-off lines). Just think Pure white light, and significantly brighter than OEM HIDs.

Best thing to do is shop around. Check out some of our sponsors listed on our opening page. Iknow Tires23 sells HID kits. So does Lockdown. Als check XenonDepot.com. Look around for prices. Unfortunately, once I bought mine, I wasn\'t really paying attention to prices anymore.

My Xtec 5000K kit costs just over $375. In general, higher the K temperature, the more you are going to pay. Philips is the one exception. They are expensive (start at $500) but in my opinion, they are one of the best kits on the market today.

If you have any chinese friends that goes back to Hong Kong that can get you philips HID then tell them to get it. One of my friend just bought a set of philips 6000k for under $450 cdn. Since the exchange rate from hk and cdn (or the other way around) is 6.6. They cost about $2800-3000 hk.
