So I started hearing like a creaking noise coming from the back wheels of my 3 sport, so I took it into Mazda this morning. They call me a few hours later and tell me that the hub is bent and that it will not be covered under warranty! They say the only way that this could happen is from hitting something (curb) really hard. I have never hit anything with my car! Can someone help me out, please??? Any suggestions??? I know a couple people work for Mazda on here, any suggestions?? Has anyone else had this problem?

Thanks in advance.

The only way a hub can be bent is if you hit a curb or a bad pothole. Your tire or rim might also have a mark on the side.

Where did you have it checked?

Joe,

Have you heard of any problems like this before? The location I went to also said that they bearing are gone. Could the bearing affect the hub?

The set-up on our cars the bearing is pressed into the hub.

The hub/bearing are circled here:

Joe, I have just finished reading a few pots about the rear rotors needing to be machined. Can the problem with with rear rotors be the start to the rear hub being bent?

So I just got my car back from Markham Mazda and they gave me incorrect info! The told me that the noise that I was hearing was from build up of salt and dirt. They fixed the problem at no expense to me! When I first spoke with them this morning, they told me that it was a bent hub and that I would have ot pay for it! Never, Never take you car to Markham Mazda! I will not be taking it there myself again.

Thanks to Flipspeed for the help.

So I had sent an email to the President of Mazda Canada the same day I had the problems with Markham Mazda, here is the response I got from them:

Dear Mr. Haunton,

We would appreciate you taking the time to write to us. We welcome consumer correspondence and are pleased to be of assistance. After reviewing your letter, Mr. Benchimol has requested our Customer Relations department to address your concerns.

We understand that you were not satisfied with Markham Mazda’s explanation as to why the bent hub and bearings are not covered under warranty. After reviewing your file with both Senior Management at the dealership and the Mazda Canada’s District Parts and Sales Manager, we have determined the following:

Markham Mazda has decided to cover this under warranty
Markham Mazda has apologized for any misunderstandings provided by their staff

We would like to take this opportunity to reaffirm our confidence in the long-term reliability of your Mazda 3 and trust your future experience will be enjoyable.

Sincerely,

MAZDA CANADA INC.
