So school is sending me to a conference in Arizona!
(meh, i know arizona sucks, but 2 years ago they sent me to puerto rico :D )

so, since i will be there for 5 days for the conference, i figured i would stick around and drive up to the grand canyon for a few days!

anyone been?
anyone know how many days i will want to stay extra?
what is there to do there?

any advice in general?

Many people have been to the Grand Canyon Broli. Ask your mother I\'m sure she\'s not shy about telling you who\'s seen her.

Seriously though. You\'ll love it! You have no concept of the size of this place until you see it and even then you can\'t take it all in at one time. My wife and I spent one day there. It\'s a nature reserve so you won\'t find any tacky tourist spot within the Canyon Grounds. Most people will elect to walk along the path to the Colorado River. I would only advise this if you are a true hiker. We were told it takes anywhere from about 4 to 6 hours to get to the bottom. We walked down for 1 hour then walked back. Depending on the time of the year there can be some severe temperature swings.

Everyone should see it once in their lives.

Allocate at least a day there if you want to take it all in... but like Cardinal mentioned a lot of people elect to stay over night so they can take their time. When I was there we got there before lunchtime and spent the rest of the day there.

We hiked down one of the trails (can\'t remember which one) but it was no problem going down :) Coming up was a little tougher... it is also gets hotter the more you walk down. Don\'t wear sandals is my advice... a couple of the girls and one guy we were with wore sandals and the trails have a lot of donkey sh1t along the paths.

It truly is worth checking out at some point in your life. The views are just amazing. I\'d post some pics but they are on my home PC. Perhaps I will edit this later and add some.

Bring lots of water :p
