GM John Ferguson should be next.

You knew it was coming for Quinn but I don\'t think it is entirely his fault. He played with the cards in which he was dealt... with that said...

It should go higher up as Fang said... Ferguson should get the axe as well!

Why?

He had to work Quinn, the person who\'s job he took. He never picked the coaching staff or system they played. Sure he signed Eddie when he shouldn\'t have, but look at all the crap Quinn kept when he was GM.

It was clearly a long transition from the Quinn era to the Ferguson era.

He also signed Allison and Lindros. Most of the NHL had written them off. Why the hell did he sign them?

Quinn outstayed his welcome here. I\'m not arguing that but you have to admit that Ferguson\'s INABILITY to do anything at the trade deadline shows he\'s not up for this job either. They pissed the first part of the season away and then did nothing to make a run for the playoffs. Come on! Luke Richardson? Eddie should have been traded at the begining of this season. Brian MaCabe as well while they still had value.

Bad form.

You wanted them to trade McCabe and Eddie and still make a playoff run? What would they have got in return?

The fact they didn\'t make the playoffs comes down to 2 things. Their inability to win in shoot outs and the 20 game stretch around the olympic break. (both deal with coaching).

I think they should have waived Berg & Belak and let the kids play all season. Harrison and White could have gained more NHL experience and improved on the job. You know they would have learned from their mistakes and not mke the smae ones every game like Berg and Belak.

Don\'t forget that this team overcame a lot of injury problems. Love him or hate him, I think a healthy Lindros (don\'t forget he carried the team when Sundin was down) could have made a difference as well.

Nope. What I meant to say was if he wanted to forgo this season then he should have traded Eddie and McCabe while they still had value to the Team. They could have received some good future prospects. Now what?

There were more signs than that. Their inability to compete with the bigger teams early on (Ottawa ) showed what was to come. The coach isn\'t on the ice. The players are. Their inability to do those things is their fault not Quinn\'s. Unfortunately, you can\'t fire players so the coach is the next best thing. They stopped playing for Quinn at the end of their last playoff run. It was time for Quinn to go.

Bottom line is that Quinn has the most life time wins among active coaches. But that couldn\'t save him. Any bets on whether Vancouver picks him up?

Ask yourself when was the last time Lindros was healthy? Come on Caz, I like the guy just as much as you do but you have to admit signing Lindros was a huge gamble for Ferguson. I was surprised we got that much out of him. Ferguson will be out of a job in 2 years. Mark my words.

I don\'t even think Quinn was surprised by this..

The guy has 1.6 million left on his contract for next year and he will be picked up by another team. Gee....I wonder if the Leafs will have to foot the bill for the 1.6 million?

Well I think its fair to say after his severance package, he wont be starving!

JFJ should be fired as well.

His free agent signings were useless at best and the greatest thing that happened to this team was when Belfour, Allison and Khavanov/Had Enough got hurt. It completely changed the chemistry of this team and if it had happened 25 games earlier, we would have beat out Tampa for the 8th spot.

JFJ\'s signings:
Belfour, Allison, O\'Neil, Lindros, Domi, Berg, Khavanov, Marius Czerkawski (Polish Prince)...and the list goes on.

What has any of those players done this year? Sure Allison has 60+ points but when you play 20 to 25 min a game and you\'re on the 1st line PP, that made it easier.

I\'ll give JFJ one more year...the only positive thing from the Leafs this year is Mats Sundin and the Toronto Marlies call ups...without them...we would have gotten the 6th or 7th pick, isntead of the 13th.

For what they paid for him, I think we was well worth it. Who was a better value on the Leafs other than Tucker (dollars to points)? I think the leafs medical staff made a big mistake trying to rehab his wirst. If he was on a multi-year deal he would have had surgury right after it happened. I think he was a gamble that paid off. If he wasn\'t there when Sundin was injured we would have ended up in last place.

By the way I am not a Lindros fan.

The fans signed Domi, not JFJ.

Why hasn\'t anyone said to fire Richard Peddie? Isn\'t he in charge of hiring GMs? If you ask me, he should go ... He doesn\'t know anything about Hockey or Basketball by hiring two really bad GMs in Ferguson and The Cock.

I think he saved his ass when he hired Colangelo.

:O

huh!!

truth be told,
the teachers pension owns the leafs right?
(is that the peddie guy?)

and wtf do they care, as long as the team makes money . . .
this city will for ever and ever and ever support the team regardless of whether they suck
or as good . . .

the best thing for them is to have these big names like Lindros who come and go
get people excited and then . . . suck ass still!!

it is about the teachers having a nestegg when they retire
it is not about having a competetive team . . .
hence we will never win another stanely cup!!

Meh,
2 years 2 late for Quinn to get fired.

If I were MLSE I\'d fire Richard Peddie in a heartbeat; in 5 years he completely destroyed Toronto Raptors aka CRAPtors organization by hiring tools like lame duck Babcock or a coach who had no clue of coaching in Sam Neill. Now he turned his clueless eye to Maple Leafs.. god, have mercy!
Shame on you, king Richard!
Sorry for highjacking this forum but if you really wanted to know who that Peddie guy is here is description ;)
-------
Richard Peddie is the president and CEO of Maple Leaf Sports and Entertainment (MLSE), which is the company that owns and operates the Toronto Maple Leafs, the Toronto Raptors, and the Air Canada Centre.
-------

If that POS comes near Toronto Marlies of the AHL I\'m gonna slap his a$$ around, I swear! :)
