OK. School is winding down, and I have a great idea on how to get t-shirts out to our members at a low cost.
T-Shirts
The most cost effective way is to have one design, one colour shirt. I want members\' opinions on how they think this would fly.
The average t-shirt, if bought in 100\'s is no more than $10.00. I figure we have about 100 total active members (people who come out to meets consistantly, and post. Numbers aside). For 100 Shirts, at $10 each. That\'s about $1000. We have about 10 sponsors/affiliates. These include Mazda of Toronto, Westowne Mazda, Tires23, E-Spec, Avante Mazda(?), FX Auto, Lockdown Enterprises...
If we can get each sponsor to pitch in $20, with the promise that their logo will appear on the T-Shirt, i think we can have our t-shirts \"donated\". Then we just ask members for a small donation to the club to purchase one... Say $5. If all the t-shirts get sold, that\'s $500 to the club.
Now the Ultimate Question: assuming we get our sponsors to go through with this, would you, as members, mind wearing a t-shirt that looked similar to:
Front
our new car Club logo, with text website at the bottom, about 2\" x 2\"
Back
Larger car club logo 10-12\" with all the logos of sponsors below each about 1 x 1/2\" depending on how many we get...
i do suppose if we got 100 shirts we can order half one colour, half another. Black and White would probably be easiest.

i\'m in like Flynn..
BUT .. set out REALISTIC deadlines and stick to them.. picking a \'logo\' in one of the threads took FOREVER.. now that the logo will actually be featured somewhere there\'s more of an incentive for people to design one..
i\'m just not sure if 20bux is too little for the sponsors/affiliates to pay especially that they will get 100+ advertisements.. on teh other hand supposedly they pay some fees to be an affiliate/sponsor (i assume)
as for front.. i agree.. small logo on the left breast.. back.. larger logo \'brought to you by\' and sponsors below.. something to that effect ..
lets get it going..
oh btw.. how much for a babydoll tee?

I can get good quality t-shirts at a much lower price than $10 p/p. Let me talk to my contact on Monday before this goes ahead.

We already discussed way back when, that OTUA MY\'s design would be our new logo. That is the one that I had in mind to put on t-shirts.
As for $20, that is only for the first batch of 100 (nice round numebr to work with). As we need to order more shirts, we will ask them once again to donate again.
When my exams are over, which will be this thursday, I will begin to contact all of our affiliates/sponsors. Anyone wishing to volunteer to help, send me a PM.

I was using $10/shirt as an example. In my original post, I did mention that that would be a maximum cost.

I am pretty sure you don\'t have to get a 100 Shirts made. Think about all the sport teams around, I don\'t think a 12 man softball team goes out and has to buy a 100 t-shirts to wear when they play ball every weekend.
I think a nice golf-tee would be hip. You can wear it out to dinner.:)

once more I\'d like to bring up Golf/Polo style shirts as opposed to T-Shirts. I think we may get more members for golf shirts.

Good choice of logo
.... of course, some credit needs to be sent Bluntman\'s way
I agree, $20 bucks is too little for sponsors to pitch in.
Heck, to get a companies name on my nephew\'s hockey team banner that they hang during games costs a minimum of $500 !!
I\'m sure our shirts would be seen my a lot more eyes than that silly 4\'x6\' banner.
I also agree that Golf Shirts are better.
But I think with all those sponsors on the back, it would look tacky.
Perhaps Golf Shirts with just the logo on the pocket,
AND T-Shirts with front and back logos/sponsors.
BTW.... I\'d get both !!!

Golf shirts are going to be difficult to do with all the sponsors, since they have to be stitched in order to look nice. That\'s a lot of stitching if you are going to have 10 logos on the back.
The reason why I\'m asking for only $20 is that I just want to cover the cost. And in smaller amounts, it is easier to get the sponsors to donate. i guess we can bump it up to $100? cover the entire cost of making the shirt. ($100 x 10 sponsors = $1000 = cost of making shirts according to first post of this thread).

well.. get pricing for tees, babydoll tees, baseball (long sleeve) and golf shirts and then we can all decide and see what\'s feasible (profitable).. obviously golf shirts will cost more but if people are willing to pay (and i\'d probably get one too) we should make them.. the last thing you want is to get stuck with inventory NOBODY wants..

Like I said, all the writing on the back would look ugly.
A Golf Shirt is more classy, thats why I said logo on front only.
If you\'re set on adding sponsors.... then stick with T-Shirts.
Stitching is more costly too.... Silkscreening would probably be cheaper.

Lets hear what others think.
I think it should be a least $50.... but $100 would be great.
Remember, we are trying to create some revenue and exposure.
These companies should be able to contribute a little for a good cause.
... and maybe they can even write-off their contribution. :sarc

let\'s look at the cost for the shirts, before we look at sponsors. I for one would be willing to spend some more money to have my shit be sponsor free.

That may be true, but what I\'m trying to do is avoid having a high inital cost to the shirts. Even if we were to have 20 made, the initial cost still has to come out of someone\'s pocket, since the club doesn\'t have enough money to do so.
We\'ve tried asking people for money up front before, and it just isn\'t as successful as it needs to be.

well
lets set something up!
lets start the membership cards,
that u can only recieve with a 10 dollar donation to the club,
this will be required to recieve dicounts at the dealerships!
if people aren\'t willing to donate 10 bux to the club
then, they don\'t deserve the discount anyways!!
as well i am sure we can all volunteer some money!
someone, start a thread with people making a pledge to TM3,
if u make a pledge, ur membership fee can be waived!
i don\'t mind being involved in this, but someone else will
have to be in it with me!
if buisness cards are good enought for membership!
i am more than willing to front the money to get em made
as long as someone else designs them!
we can arrange some collect donations meets,
and then give the loot to WTOM!
this summer the club can be swimming in money!
or WTOM set up a TM3 paypal (a new one)
and we will donate and pay for memberships there!

It\'s a HUGE Perk to recieve the discounts we do at M.o.T and Avante. As well as great service from the affliates.
Why not Join TM3..i.e Membership.. to recieve these great deals. Owning the 3 has been such a better experience because of TM3.

I agree on that, and would have no problems paying a membership, and donating some cash to support the club.

Form the perspective of someone completely new to TM3 - I was rather surprised to learn that there was no “formal†membership required to take advantage of the discounts. I think it’s quite normal to be expected to contribute something to the club – be that an annual membership fee or a voluntary donation. Otherwise the “TM3 discount†suddenly becomes “I saw someone mention TM3 on the internet discountâ€Â.
As a result, the collected memberships/donations can be used to fund the start-ups of goodies like t-shirts, hats, and what have you. It’s always hard to get things like that rolling, but once the first batch is made and sold it’ll be smooth sailing from there on.
The drawback however, is that keeping track of the memberships and collecting the money can get quite labor intensive. Another unfortunate aspect of this I’ve experienced first hand is that some people might feel that by paying for an annual membership they receive the rights to demand things and push their way around the club and possibly even the dealers recognizing the club.
Just 2c from a new guy :D

good points man!!
well a way around having to worry about re collecting annual fees
would be to have an expiry date on the card!
and ask dealers to enforce it!
still a bit of a hasell, but not to bad!
as for people pushing their weight around, because of a 10 dollar donation!
if that should happen
well, i guess we would just have to tell them too bad!
in a nice way of course!!

i like what they do over on teh VM boards....they got your regular everyday forum users, and your \"official members\" which are paid members, $25 initially, and then $10 annually after that.....and your given a membership card, which is to be used at the affiliates....

Could we not limit certain aspects of the forum to paying members?
eg. All the How-To Guides & Reference, Group Buys etc are only accessible to paid up members.
This would no doubt involve some work on the Admins part, but would be well worth it IMO.
As far as donations, I think the membership idea is much better...if this turns people away, doo we really want those cheap-asses in the club anyhow?
I\'d much rather get a nice quality golf/polo shirt that I can actually wear to work, sponsor-free with just the TM3 logo on the left breast. A nice dark blue, with white or cream embroidery.
