Buying a 3 sometime this week or next....hatchback or sedan???

Hello everyone,

I\'m looking to getting either the hatchback or sedan.....at first I had my eyes set on the hatchback, but after seeing alot of the pictures on this website and around the internet, the sedan is starting to really apeal to me.....I guess I\'ll make a decision when I get to see it at a dealership....what do you guys think??? I\'m also thinking black is the way to go..it\'ll look great w/ tints...

A Hatch is so much more sexier than a Sedan. You can put more stuff into the back of a Hatch.
The Hatch comes with the 2.3L guzzler though...:(

Black will always look dirty and after the first winter will be covered in fine scratches.

It all comes down to your taste – personally when I was shopping for a car I wasn’t even considering sedans, so you can say I’m very hatch-biased :D

But the way I look at it, unless you’re on a budget and do no plan on getting a loaded GT, there is no reason to not get a hatchback. The price difference between a GT sedan and a GT hatch is only 150 bucks, but you get a car that is a lot more versatile – which in my view is priceless in the long run. Even if you don’t a family to haul around on camping trips, the extra room in the back is very handy. Ummm... IKEA :)

Besides, hatches are just plain sexy :D

Go for the HATCH!

I used to have a Protege 5 and when it came time to choose between the hatch and sedan I only decided sedan based purely on financial reasons -
1. the base sedan is well equipped for the price -they don\'t have a base model hatch
2. GA$ Sabio is right the 2.3 is more of a gas guzzler but if you have the $$ go for the hatch

I love my sedan, but after nearly a year of driving it I do sorely miss the extra room the hatch provides. In my old P5 I easily fit a dishwasher (in it\'s box) a 36\" TV (again in the box)
now in my sedan I went to buy a 19\" TV and had to take it out of the box and put the TV on the rear seats to bring it home.
I am really thinking the lack of space isn\'t worht the $$ I am saving!

besides all that you are buying a new Mazda 3
and we all know there is only one mazda 3 in the market worth buying and it only comes in a hatch model:

MAZDASPEED 3 all the way!

GT sedan w/GFX comes with a moonroof. Hatch does not. So a little bonus for the Sedan on that one.

right, but the GFX is an extra $1200... and the rest of the stuff in the package (17\" wheels, sporty bumpers, side sills, and grille) is standard on a GT hatch. Where as to put a moonroof on a GT hatch is only $800. Perhaps I’m missing something, but it looks like the moonroof is actually 400 bucks more expensive on a sedan...

if I do get the sedan, for sure i\'m getting GT w/ GFX package...probably add a rear spoiler aswell....price of this compared to a hatchback GT w/ aircon, sunroof is approximately the same,...it just a matter of preference now....tuff decision for me..flip a coin and decide??...i\'ll let you guys know what happens.....but right now the sedan\'s looking really nice.........

You have to add A/C to the Hatch. It comes standard with the GT sedan. So the Sedan is cheaper....with a moonroof that is.

I am quite the opposite.. I always prefered the look of the GT/GFX over the sport GT but that\'s just me. Like you even said... the more sedans you see the more you like it.

Bottom line... you can\'t go wrong with either choice :D

I would say go for the hatch! :)

The hatch is way more versatile and the front is more aggressive looking. You can\'t go wrong either way tho. I wasn\'t even considering the sedan when I got mine, but then again my sister just signed for a sedan (GT/GFX) from Prima Mazda and she wasn\'t even considering a hatch either.

I would have to disagree with joe on this one.. I like the Titanium Grey on a sedan.. but everybody has their own opinions..

hey jobes, the way I see it a sedan is a subset of a hatch.. if you compare the two the sedan is missing the corner piece of a hatch.. :D :p

everyone says the hatch is more functional... so if you have a need for the added trunk space go for the hatch..

if it\'s all aesthetics then it is personal preference.

Good luck with it and like I said before... both are great choices.

I took the sedan for test drive...I love it.....decision made...

I\'m going back tonight to figure out the numbers...hopefully I\'ll get it at a price I want....

I\'m going with the following:

Mazda3 GT/GFX package/Luxury package/rear spoiler/moon roof wind deflector....

Am I missing anything..??...hope not.....anyways...thanks guys..
