Easy dish... just make chicken with peppers in black bean sauce..

Make a veggie dish... chinese broc...

if not enough... add another meat dish or fish...

that;s what i normally do...

or just go pick up some \"char sui\" :)

The wife marinated some chicken breast in an Indian Tikha paste and with some peppers and onions. Gonna grill it tonight with some mashed potatoes and some corn I think.

Please explain... I\'m confused...

KenYork
04-24-2006, 06:35 PM

basically in most places in markham (johns bbq) they have new style which is really really soft and not very sweet, more salty. the old style is pretty hard and has like sweet like gooy sauce on it, as opposed to the water-based ones that they let it sit in.

i LOVE the old style and hwo its all hard and crap lol, damn im hungry

ya know it\'s just sauce that just gets used over and over again.. for like a couple weeks(maybe even months).

It\'s not only a Filipino dish...

Chinese have one as well that we eat at lunch... most commonly ordered during Dim Dum. It\'s sticky rice wrapped and steamed in a Lotus leaf... inside there is meat and what not.

It\'s called \"Lo Mai Gai\"..in Cantonese..

The lo mai gai works but those are usually referring to the larger ones about size of palm?
And the ones at dim sum places are called jun ju gai because its smaller. Get it?;)

My dad makes that every Christmas.

Ever had \"buko pandan\"? It\'s a mix of coconut, tapoica and gelatin...it\'s my new favourite dessert and is worth the trip back to the Philippines. :D

I still can\'t get enough of \"proot salad\" though! (fruit salad LOL)

Isn\'t it funny how give an old filipino some sugar, powdered milk, sticky rice, and condensed milk,
they can make like 50 different desserts!? That\'s all our stuff is made of!

Walkthrough... LOL.

Use Majic\'s link or I just...

Less formal recipe..

Get some chicken breast and cut it into chunks or slices... up to you.
I usually like to throw it into a bowl and put some soya sauce and black pepper (helps get rid of the total poultry taste) and about a teaspoon of corn starch mix it all up and let it sit for a few mins to marinate.

In the meantime grab your veggies that you want to use (green peppers, red, I use celery too)
Chop them up and put aside.

Grab your WOK, pan whatever...

Heat some oil (I use grapeseed you can use whatever you have) put about a tablespoon of the blackbean sauce in with the oil while it is heating up.

Once hot throw the chicken in and fry it up. Once the chicken is almost done throw your veggies in. You may want to add some sugar so it is not too salty.

DONE.

Serve with white rice.

haha...

VERY QUICK AND EASY.

There is a buffet restaurant in Makati called Dad\'s. They have Filipino, Japanese, a little bit of Italian and \"North American\" food. Of course, they also have dessert section! I was tempted to just camp out in front of the dessert area and eat all of the ginataan, halo-halo and leche flan for myself. All you can eat for under $10CDN!

I have never been a big fan of turon, but after eating a few from Remely\'s I believe I am coming around.

I have a craving for taho, the drink...
