DOOO EEETT.. I have my M2 but no bike anymore :( (other priorities)
Just when you buy the helmet and I\'m sure the sales staff will assist you but keep in mind if it feels \'too\' snug that means its perfect. There shouldnt be any play in the helmet whatsoever

Thanks Moose for pointing this out. I didn\'t realize they differed.
Short Article (http://www.performancedriversclub.org/articles_detail.asp?articleID=8) kind of old but i\'m sure still applies.

Since blunty so graciously linked this thread, I\'ll bump it.
At the track day I attended, helmets were recommended, but not mandatory. Just wondering how uncomfortable they are to wear. Do they impede visibility at all?
I think I will invest in a helmet, but I\'m not looking forward to the loss of peripheral vision (if there is any loss that is...).

Another version of the difference between SA / M / K Helmets.
Auto-racing helmets are rated as either M, SA or K. M stands for Motorcycle or Motorized vehicles. M rated helmets are used for Motorized highway vehicles and for Racing that does not require a fire retardant rating. M rated helmets require a larger eyeport for a wider range of vision. SA stands for Special Application. SA rated helmets are used in competitive automobile racing and require a fire retardant rating. SA helmets are also subjected to additional testing including a test that simulates a roll bar impact. K rated helmets are used for Karting applications. They are subjected to the same test standards as SA helmets except the do not require a fire retardant interior.
A M-rated helmet will give you a better feild of vision. ASN Canada FIA Regulations state that you are allowed to use a M-rated helemt. As well as a SA rated one.
M-rated oneis the frrugal way if you plan to go to the track a couple times a year. Cheapest Bell helmet is $300+

there is quite the selection of less than $200 Snell M2000 helmets at Cycle World (www.cycleworld.ca)... KBC Helmets (http://www.kbc-helmet.com/), HJC Helmets (http://www.hjchelmets.com/), or CKX should have something in a reasonable price range.
