View Full Version : My brake upgrade, rotors and pads.....

Lately since my accident i\'ve noticed when braking at high speeds semi-hard, that one of my rotors seems warped, due to a shake in the steering wheel. So after surfing ebay, like i do once a week, i noticed a four pack of slotted and cross-drilled rotors for sale by this company out of Mass. called brakepros. Apparently they work with certain companies like brembo and baer, using there stock replacement rotors to cross drill and slot them for street applications, they also zinc coat them to try and prevent rusting. It seemed like a legit place, and for $200 us to my door for four rotors i couldn\'t pass it up. Here\'s a link to the auction page if you\'d like to check it out, their website is also listed there. Of course the other thing that brought this about was that my rear pads are almost shot so I am upgrading to EBC all the way around when i do the rotors. I also hate all the brake dust at the rear wheels and i\'m hoping these pads will be a little better. Anyways any comments are welcome and i will post some picks when installed. Other than that GOOOOOOOOOOOO SABRES.......

Ohh man, congrats for a very good purchase.

Please post pics and a quick review as soon as you get them installed, i would be very interest just b/c of the fact that they are OEM size, so you wont loose power which is what happen when you upgrade to a big brake kit and their look, i\'ve always wanted drilled/sloted brake rotors.

Just received the rotors and pads today. Painted everything tonight in order to let dry for the week, because i probably won\'t get to it until this weekend. The rotors look amazing, hopefully they work as good as they look. What was ebc thinking painting their pads green, i understand the theme is greenstuff but they won\'t look good on anything in that color. Anyways i painted the outside pads and the centers of the rotors black to try and prevent any unwanted rust. I\'ll keep you updated.....

Well after a little bit of a fitment issue with a defect in the rear rotors i managed to get them in. I was surprised i was able to do all four rotors and pads in an hour and a half. It looks amazing, and what a difference in brake feel, expecially on the highway. Anyways i\'ll post pics later.

Ques. Did anyone else notice a lot of initial dust from the ebc greenstuff pads during the brake in period?

Yeah i could pull that off, but let me run them for a bit and see how the quality is. I\'m still a little sceptical because of the price. So far so good though, they stand out behind the rims like you wouldn\'t believe.....

Here\'s the pics that i promised, sorry for the wait. Please ignore the ugly calipers in the front. So far the rotors and the pads have been amazing, making for a smooth braking system with less dust.

Yes, i am very impressed with the look. The pictures don\'t really give you the whole picture. If you rolled up next to this thing and glanced at the wheels it would be easy to realize how sweet it is. Performance wise they are very smooth and seem durable. They are coated well, so they stay very shiny. All in all they were a great buy, both visually and performance wise. :D

Raise your hand if your jealous.

The rotors look really good. One question, what happens in the winter? Will you swap out those with the stock rotors?

Funny you mentioned that bluntman. I was just discussing that with my brother the other day. I feel that i might have no choice, because they are so nice i wouldn\'t want them to have to experience the most aggressive winters and salt in North America. They look so pretty i couldn\'t do that to them. It might seem crazy to do this, but i don\'t have a choice. :(

not to mention the slots and drills getting full of ice and crap and reducing performance....

Anyone follow-up on this one? I\'m nearing 50K myself and needing pads and possibly rotors. 2.0L.

Looks awesome.

Just so everyone knows, i checked the website out again and they still carry the 2.3l set for 180.00 us and the 2.0l for 165.00 us, plus 20.00 us for shipping. Thats all four rotors. I would be willing to order for two vehicles and bring up to the August or September meet. I should be able to sneak 8 rotors over the border successfully. So if anyone is interested let me know, and i\'ll see what i can do.

That means that we wouldn\'t have to pay the $20 for shipping? Would you do that for us TM3 members? Awesome!! :D :D

$180 US for a full set of rotors in Toronto? Niceee! Thanks man. :p
