Argh!
I just had a job interview this morning. I can\'t believe how badly I screwed it up. I knew the content, studied for a week, went over my presentation, but the questions that they asked just threw me for a loop. Questions like, relate \"X\" with \"Y\". Of course I knew what \"X\" and \"Y\" were, but how they relate? The problem is I couldn\'t BS my way through because the people on the panel were my immediate superiors. It\'s a double edged sword when the interview panel is filled with people who know you and your job. The familar faces make the entire interview sitauation that much more comfortable, but because they know you and know what you do, there\'s no BSing. I couldn\'t say that I took on this project all by myself...and completed it only in 1 night. :p
Maybe some things weren\'t meant to be... :(

that plus you have all 3 or more of them staring at you and taking notes.. plus you HAVE to say everything.. they cannot write something down ifyou haven\'t told them.. (even though they know perfectly well that you can do this and that)
*fingers crossed*
I hope it works out for you.
I had one last week and I got the job.

The worst part about the whole process is that I am practically doing the job that I interviewd for! Just forget the formalities and GIVE ME THE POSITION!!! I am currently temporary at this position, but my permanent position is within the same office, just at a much lower pay scale.
It\'s all about the Benjamins! ;)
Oh well, at least I received my tax refund last night.

Thankfully I haven\'t had to go through a job interview for about four years now.....but I remember how stressful they can be. At my job I am responsible for the hiring of certain staff and I personally find that conducting interviews is pretty brutal also. I held a total of 11 interviews over the past couple of days and haven\'t found a suitable employee yet :(

I love job interviews, its a way to show yourself and your job skills off...I\'ve never not been hired after an interview...these days its the getting of an interview that seems to be the problem for people. Goodluck, I\'m sure you did amazing, don\'t second guess your abilities and skills.

I don\'t hate interview. I always treat it as a chatting with someone :D
but I hate writing/edit the cover letter for each job I applied!

The problem was that you worried about it too much. A little bit of confidence and throw in some indifference and the President himself would be coming in to sign your job offer Blunty! Good luck!

I think to make myself feel better I go out on my lunch hour and buy myself an XBox360.

I\'ve been on both ends of the job interview process and it\'s no picnic. Speaking from someone who has given interviews this year, sometimes, not always or in your case, but sometimes, it doesn\'t go as bad as you think it went.

I hope you\'re right...but I\'m still buying the 360 to console (no pun intended) myself.

I wish I could get to the interview stage. In the past 3 years that I\'ve been looking I\'ve been to 2 interviews:sarc .
Maybe I need to get out of IT. (I think my current job has cursed me)

The problem is that there is just such a huge supply of people in the IT industry. The job I was holding interview for was for a basic IT position in our company ($12-14/hour) and we were getting applications from ex-RIM employee\'s who had been earning $48K per year. The majority of the people who applied were waaaaay over-qualified for what we needed, but that just seems to be the way it is right now.

Yes the hardest part of the job search is getting the interview. I am in the process of looking for a new job as my contract is coming to an end. I don\'t mind the interview process except for the waiting. I was on two 2nd interviews last week and now I am waiting for hopefully offers.
The actual interview process is not too bad... I used to hate interviews, but now I go in with a total \"I don\'t give a sh1t\" attitute and it seems to work. Puts less pressure on me and I go in more relaxed. You have to figure if you got the interview you have already beat out many applicants. All the people that made the short list must be qualified to do the job and are probably all on the same level pretty much in experience. So the next thing that people look for are communication and personality... it\'s all about the soft skills now in IT. You\'d be surprised at how many people are super qualified and have certifications coming out of their asses but can\'t get jobs... it\'s because they have ZERO people skills.
The IT market is fine... but it is definitely oversaturated. I really want to get out, but it;s not the best time for me to making any career changes unfortunately :( The best I can do right now is try to go more into Business Analysis and Project Management so it\'s more hands off tech than hands on.
oh and GOOD LUCK BLUNTMAN! :D

A friend of mine was hired for the position. I heard him in the office being congratulated by the others. Not wanting to be a sore looser I congratulated him as well. Then my manager came by and asked to see me before I left for home. I figured she was just going to tell me I wasn\'t successful at the interview just as a courtesy.
She said that it might have forgotten to tell me that in fact there were two positions available and that the other one was mine for the taking. You should have seen the look on my face!
