I have been contact Joe from Xcelerated Concepts about making a CF hood for the 3 sedan or hatch. He told me that he need 10 confirmed buyer for each hood(sedan or hatch) the price would be 500, and every confirmed buyer need 250 deposit and the rest can be due when the hood is done. So sign yr name here if anyone want a nice CF for yr 3, and i will start my name first. Any questions PM me.

You\'ve got to be kidding me... In defence to Chu315, how can he post pics of a product which does not exist yet?? Sure I can send him pics of our other products if that\'s what you want.
I warned him already when he contacted us about making products for the Mazda3 that it likely wouldn\'t happen. I must truely say, I\'m quite surprised that you guys are not more supportive of bringing new products to the market for your vehicle.

In their defence, I think the others were confused in thinking this was a Group Buy thread and not a Gauging Interest thread.
We recently had a similar \"misunderstanding\" in a recent GI/GB thread.

That is not true. Maybe majority of the people here use their car as a daily driving car and don\'t want to spend the dough? Or majority of us thinks the 3 looks good without the CF hood? Plus, someone needs to take off their hood for few days to make it right? Its going to be hard because most of us or maybe all of us needs our car everyday.

No confusion here. I\'m with pearly on this one. Don\'t think the CF hood looks good on our cars.

While a picture of the exact hood may not be feasible at this time you could certainly post up pictures of the type of carbon fibre....I\'ve seen varying types of \'weave\' and thought that some looked good while others did not :sarc
Sorry, but you\'re not gonna get anyone to commit to buying a $500 part without so much as a description/picture/specs. How much weight will be saved? Is it $500 plus tax, or tax in? Will it come with new hardware or are the members expected to reuse existing hardware? Etc.

I would love one! I think they look great so long as you paint the sides :) (for a hatch).
I would donate my hood for 2 days if needed, but it would have to be a weekend, and a severly discounted hood of course ;)

All the mounting hardware is included, just the same as all our other products. $500 is tax in of course. I believe some pics were posted in the thread of the last attempt, but I will be sending some to Chu315 later today. If you get PASmag, the Cobalt on the cover of the last issue was done by our fabricators, as was the 5th Gear Audio RX-8, if you\'re familiar with it.
Chu315 is the one trying to organize this (I already tried), but you may also contact me directly with any questions you may have.
Our products only use PPG clear coating (unlikely most others in the inductry). PPG provides one of the highest UV protections available, this is why many car manufactures use it as well.

Hey CrazyCaker, why don\'t you make a CF engine cover for the 3?? That would be good, easier to sell than the CF hood. Maybe from the 03-05 model, 06 is different and uglier i guess.
If there is more people interested please say it.

That\'s a good idea!
I can give you a cover right now and you can keep it.
+1 on a CF engine cover.

If that\'s what you guys are interested in. Flipspeed, can you possibly send me a pic of the cover you have (sales@xceleratedconcepts.ca)? I can then figure out if we can do it, and what pricing would be like.

I\'ll be up for that! However, how oil resistant is the CF? Everytime I get an oil change done they seem to spill a bit on the engine cover and now there\'s a stain on the plastic.

I would just remove it before you get the oil change done. The oil fill cap is in a pretty dumb spot.

A carbon hood dosen\'t work without a carbon grill...thats the problem here.. $500 for the hood and another $200? for a grill....
i guess nobody really sees the need for a carbon hood. I don\'t. (paint the hood black) But.... If it was a dual vented hood :) That would be different....and I wouldn\'t care if it was carbon either...fibreglass is fine.

Here is the pic but like Flip said he can provide you a cover so you can take measures and make the mold.

i dont mean to ruffle any feathers here, but unless you have a black or white car that hood is gonna look like ass.. from those pictures the hood looks good, just not on a titanian grey...Just my opinion of coarse
Just wondering if there is still a possibility of getting a CF hood???
(And to all of those who think its ugly CF is in fact paintable :p )

Make that three. I have better things to spend $500 on, like an exhaust or headers or another engine mod. Besides, I don\'t think a CF hood would look good on my 3. It\'s a Mazda, not a Honda.
I think you guys have the wrong perspective, for me its not about the looks, I plan on painting it to match the original paint. Weight reduction is the best performance mod, cause it helps acceleration, deceleration and handling. Although I know a CF hood wouldn\'t make a huge differance.

There is interest in the CF products but Xcelerated concepts never came back to this thread... :(
