I have a new Mazda with 1800km... Lately I\'ve been experienceing poor shifting. Sometime when I try to shift into 4th or Reverse it becomes kinda stuckk...
ANyone know why?
Btw, it\'s Manual

I had the same problem, my dealer told me that the shifter assembly wouldn\'t be fully broken in until around 8000 kms. Don\'t worry, it\'ll be very smooth once it\'s finally broken in.

I have this problem sometimes too... It can be a pain in the ass to put the girl in reverse from time to time.
Edit: I have about 3400 kms.

the AWR motor mount helps with better shifting.. but it\'s downside is you get more vibration in the car..

Does chainging the transmission fluid help make it smoother?
I read on mazda3forums.com that some guys changed it after the break in period and it\'s suppose to be smoother, but only on some mazda 3\'s?
Should I change it?

Huh? I don\'t get it... what does a motor mount have to do with the transmission?

I always find it easier when you push the clutch in....
reverse is always harder to find... the gears have to be matched up to sync together. It aso means Mazda has a crappy tranny in the car....

Huh? Why wouldn\'t you push the clutch in?
I don\'t have any issues finding reverse. I realize there are no synchros in reverse, but mine seems to be pretty easy.

Once you get use to the car, I find that pushing just past 3/4 is good enough to change gears. It actually seems smoother at times.

So far I dont gave any issue going into reverse gear on my car though it only has 2100 km.
Most of the cars I have owned were sometimes hard to get into reverse, what I found helped is shifting into 2nd first then go into reverse. Then it would usually slide right in I think shifting into 2nd helps to line up the gear for reverse as I think reverse gears are straight cut plus no syncro.

You could always try switching to synthetic gear oil! I did just that a couple of months ago and my shifts now are smooth as silk....mind you i never had a problem with getting into reverse.
