So I was driving a family member from a dentist yesterday and I hear one of my wheels thumpin\'. So I thought \"shit, got a flat\" pulled over.. check all tires.. nothing.. so I kept driving.. got louder... pulled over again.. checked again.. what I notice? 3 out of the 5 bolts from the driver side rear wheel gone. I was like \"WTF?\" I checked the other 2.. could unscrew them with my hand... go to the other wheels.... all of them I could unscrew with little effort using my hand.. I was like majorly \"WTF?\".... the bolts included the special ones u need a special key for....

Good that I had the 4 bolts that were replaced by the special ones in my trunk.. put them on.. tighten up ALL the bolts.... today I am heading to Ontario Mazda... and gonna make shit hit the fan, land on the floor and hit it again.... WTF?.... u ask why? well 2 weeks ago I left my car for 24,000 meintenance there.. looks like the mechanic didn;t feel like tightenin\' up the bolts after tire roation..... FOOOKKKK!!!!!!!

The most dangerous mistake a tech can ever make besides not tightening the oil drain plug properly.:sarc

Go straight to service manager - I know they fired the kid who worked on my car
(I drove home - mississsauga to hamilton with two bolts and back to mississauga the next day; highway speeds with two bolts!!!!!!!!!!!!!!)

The things these qualified mechanics do or in most cases neglect to do scares me.
If this happened to you. how many other cars who serviced at this dealership are running around with loose lug nuts? :(

It\'s also not the first time?!!?!? so either the guy is still there or their other \"qualified mechanics\" are doing the same thing?!?!

Yes, go raise hell.. get someone fired.. they endagered your life, the lives of your loved ones and possibly many others with gross negligence, that shouldn\'t go with only a slap on the hand.

Just called Ontario Mazda.. spoke straight to Hubert (Service Manage). he applogized a lot.. he said automatically he will refund me the money I paid for the 24,000 Meintenance.... I said I need more then that since I basically could have my life on the line.... I told him I will see him at 5pm today.. I was advised by the dealership that I bought the car from (Prima) to have my alignment done, as it might have fooked it up... plus new set of special bolts. That is what I will ask for..

Awww I didnt get a refund on my tire rotation & oil change... bastids!
Well... whatever. I went straight to Mazda Canada instead so I was satisfied.

I would still definately let Mazda Canada know about this because it seems its becoming a trend.

Holy crap that\'s brutal... glad you are okay and no one was potentially hurt.

I bought my car from Ontario but have not brought it there for service... it\'s too far for me!

I actually kind of know Hubert... he is a good guy so hopefully he makes things right and fires that incompetent guy who worked on your car.

That is pretty scary stuff, and the fact that it\'s happened twice to members of this small(ish) board is even more frightening. I wonder just how many people have left that dealership with loose lugnuts?

Ask to have the mechanics that worked on your car present at the meeting. A little bit of shame is good for the soul.

I actually find that the Hubert guy is a good guy too. He was the one that explained the whole Mainetence bill to me when I left 2 weeks ago.. and I guess I can\'t blame him directly.. its the fooken mechanics that need to be screened better for \"retardness\"

True... but it will be his job to make sure this never happens again.

I\'m sure he will make things right for you.

Good luck.

But it did happen again... thats the problem :(

Now I\'m gonna play devil\'s advocate::
I\'m actually on pretty good terms with Ontario Mazda now (they\'ve never EVER given me any hassles because of my car being modified.. (infact they actually like when I bring my car; they\'re pretty psyched for it) they warrantied my car when other dealerships refused). Anyways... i gave Ontario Mazda a second chance (and third.. and fourth) LOL but still -

Yeah... I wonder if it\'s the same guy who keeps doing this...

I know that Hubert was obviously hired to replace the previous service manager. I don\'t think he was the service mgr when it happened to you?

Either way... you are right... something like this is just pure incompetence and it should NEVER happen!

Oh no.. it was Hubert too when it happened to me. Although he didnt offer to refund my money - I went to the dealership (the next day) so they give me the rest of my lugs LOL
After that I called Mazda Canada. Hubert actually did a follow up and I even got a nice apology letter from Ontario Mazda (I\'m not being sarcastic) :P But still - its people\'s lives and it could\'ve been MUCH MUCH worse... especially travelling that far on a highway

An apology is nice and all, but it should not even be necessary because they should not be apologizing for such things!

Even though I know Hubert I am not sure if I plan on servicing my car there.

I don\'t want to lose lug nuts!

So.. just came back from Ontario Mazda.. the situation was handled in a very professional manner from both sides. Though I know the Hubert said that he is responsible for his whole service dept., I still think the mechaninc that did my car is 1 screw short of a pair.

I got my 24,000 Mainetenance bill refunded ($191.00), new lug nuts put on the spot, along with check if all is well, and I asked to have the alignment done (c/o of the dealership) as it may have been affected by this... but I will have it done in couple weeks, when I have some free time during the day.

THE END

So you did get a free alignment out of this?
Was the mechanic that worked on your car in attendance when you met with Hubert?

Atleast they were apologetic and professional about it.

:)

Why shouldnt he have to apologize... again; I\'m just playing devil\'s advocate here but isn\'t that customer service? In essense he\'s responsible for his employees actions.

In hindsight -- when some kid at wal mart scratched my bumper trying to put in a tool box WAL MART APOLOGIZED AND PAID TO FIX MY BUMPER. Really they shouldn\'t be apologizing and paying to respray someones bumper; but thats what customer service is about -- and thats what you have to do if you want repeat business. Trust me- Wal Mart has NOT lost my business :D
Long story short. Its simple mathematics and business ethics :)

Sorry I think my point was missed.

What I meant is nothing this bad should have happened in the first place... hence no situation which would require them to apologize for incompetence :)
