Are you happy with the Draft Pick last night?
\"Forza Bargnani! Raptors Select Italian No. 1
In the end, the Raptors held on to the No. 1 pick in the 2006 NBA Draft and selected the versatile big from Itay, Andrea Bargnani. The 20 year old was surprised to hear his name called first overall and sees Toronto as the perfect situation. In the second round the Raptors selected PJ Tucker and sent the 56th pick to Philadelphia.\"

I\'m still on the fence with this pick simply because I question if he can even break into the starting lineup of the raptors. Is this guy gonna play Center??? I don\'t think so.. From what everyone is saying about this guy.. he plays on the outside (softie).. There are also reports stating that his game resembles Dirk Nowitzki\'s.... As good a Dirk is, he didn\'t breakout until a couple of years later. In my opinion, if you get picked first overall.. you better not be a \"project player\". You should be ready to be a starter or at least the sixth man. I guess all we can do is wait and see what happens.
It was a weak draft overall in my opinion.

As long as he doesn\'t dive every time he\'s touched I\'m good with this deal.

I have faith in Colangelo. He has something up his sleeve, I guarantee it!

Analysts say that he plays a lot like Dirk Nowitski...a big man with good touch outside the arc. Of course, Nowitski a is forward and he is about the same size and weight as Bargnani. I know the GM wanted to move Bosch out of the Center position...well, we always have Lauren Woods! :)

Unlike the pickup of Arujuo this guy actually has offensive skill. He won\'t start right away and just might break the starting line up later on in the season. Having a 7 footer than can shoot and run the floor is what the Raps wanted. I think they signed Rasho Nesterovic to do the bashing on the boards that they want...he is a true center.. something which we have not had in a loooong time. Let\'s hope Bargnani lives up to the hype... they say he will be a mix of Nowitzki and Gasol. I\'m not too concerned of his skills... he knows he has work to do and has the work ethic to want to prove to people he can play.
I have faith that Colangelo knows what he is doing. The front line is done. They need to fill the need for a true PG now which they will probably get through free agency because Calderon is not ready to be the starter quite yet. You have to remember we still have that Roko Ukic waiting in the wings. He actually wants to come to the NBA now...

I completely forgot about Nesterovic...they only signed him, what, two days ago?
Let\'s keep our fingers crossed and hope they at least make the playoffs or attain a .500 record.

They signed him last week.
There is also that forward coming from Spain that they want to sign.
I am looking forward to seeing what they can do this season. For those of you concerned about them picking up a \"soft\" big man etc etc... If you use Nowitzki as an example... he plays facing the basket as well and still gets his points AND rebounds. You can\'t teach height... wingspan etc. Colangelo knows what he is doing... drafting a PJ Tucker is a good move as well... he fills needs as well... he is a good lockdown defender and rebounder. Have faith!!!
One more piece of the puzzle... the PG and they should be set to make a run at the playoffs! ;)
GO RAPS.

I think we need to get the Junkyard Dawg back into the mix. Then you\'d have the complete package.

I don\'t disagree with you there.
He brought an intensity that has not really been matched yet.
He is with the Raps... as the Community Relations Rep. as he loved Toronto. He was devastated when he was traded.

PG is the only position, but who do you think they can get? And what will it cost them?

He\'s in the orginization as a community rep for the Raptors. Don\'t think he\'s got the legs to play in the NBA anymore.

LOL, Andre would put Shaq in his place.
Im not really sure if he can run up and down the floor X number of times as required in a game though.

LMAO...I would love to see Shaq try to post up on Andre...We could have Andre sit under the basket on the defensive end and not move frmo there all game.

Speaking of Shaq check out how small he was back when he was drafted by Orlando.

Yeah Raptors TV occassionally shows old playoff games... watched one with Orlando. Those were the days when Penny Hardaway was a dominant player.
He was so much thinner... and could run up and down the floor a little quicker :)

I can\'t believe Tony Parker was drafted at #28!

I hope the raps feed their number one pick a ton of big macs.
Would be nice to finally have a 7 footer on the team...maybe we\'ll actually have some offensive rebounds this year.
I think we have a good core of young players to build around, although, I really hope they address the PG position soon. I like Calderone\'s energy, but I agree that he\'s not ready to be a starter in the NBA at this point.
Too bad this wasn\'t last years draft...

We do have a 7 footer and his name is Loren Woods. The big tree-like guy.:p

*Had Loren Woods
I believe his contract is up.
Having not seen Bargnini play a whole lot, I\'m not completely sold on the pick just yet. I\'ve read he\'s got excellent shooting mechanics and is pretty athletic for his size, but isn\'t much of a rebounder/defender. Definitely not a traditional 5 as of yet. Hopefully Collangelo made the right move and he develops into a really special player.
