hello,

i dropped my friend off at her place. she lives right at the intersection basically. she goes inside, comes out, gives me 2 bottles of water and leaves. i go in the passenger side and put them away. as soon as i go out i see parking enforecemnt pull up behind me.

so he stops, i give him the like \"1 minute\" kinda signal and run to the driverts side and leave. as i leave he doesnt honk nor does he put on his sirens though apparently my friend said he looked like he was writing something (a ticket)? do u think he gave me one?!

honestly that would be tight, i was JUST leaving...

this week i already got a parking ticket in china town. stopped by to LITERALLY get A SINGLE EGG TART, my friend is like \"dont pay it will be fast\", and there it is. a parking ticket for not paying lol...

anyways who thinks i got a ticket? care to share your parking problems?

EDIT: can they MAIL me a ticket? and is tehre a additional fee for me seeming to \"run away\" form the incident?

The assumption is \"they have to place the ticket on your windshielf for it to be \'valid\'...\"

I think you will be fine, but it is not something that I can definately confirm. I\'ve never heard of MTP or YRP mailing out parking tickets, But running red lights caught by cameras is another thing...

Yes, as long as the ticket does not touch the windshield.. DRIVE AWAY!!! RUN AWAY!!!
This was what I was told from friends, may not be correct.

I disagree, all they need is your plate number. It is more like \'photo parking\'. The windsheild does not seal the deal. Expect a ticket in the mail.

If you can imagine the number of tickets that never make it into the car owners hand, ie. wind blows them away, punks take em off the windshield, etc.... These guys still have a fine to pay when they pay for their plate sticker etc.

I was under the impression that they had to \"serve\" you the ticket by putting on your car.

My impression was that if you were sitting there long enough for them to witness you parked where you aren\'t supposed to be, youve been caught and served.

Odds are you didn\'t get a ticket. He would have came out and gave a ticket to you. However, as TheBiz said, they just need your plate number to have a ticket \'make it\'s way back to you\'.

Keep in mind, if your ticket blew off or was taking off by someone else from your car, they have a copy of the issued ticket - which gets entered into their database and at the time for your plate renewal, if not paid appear on the renewal - outstanding parking/moving violations along with the license plate renewal fee. This happened to me a couple years back - my sister got a ticket with my car but \'forgot\' to tell me about it

On a side note to the above - unpaid 407ETR charges will now be collected through your license plate renewal with province - isn\'t that great - private industry, that uses a publicly funded highway to make it\'s earnings now has the government collecting it\'s unpaid bills... way to go Harris, way to go...

The most frustrating one I\'ve had with parking tickets - they\'re horrible around Yonge & Eglington - is getting two tickets in one night - one ticket for Dec 14/04 and one ticket for Dec 15/04 - however I picked up both of these tickets on Dec 14/04 at 11:55pm and they\'re were given by the same parking guy.

About Parking Ticket - won\'t prevent you from getting one, however it may help reduce the impact to your wallet:
If you come across a tow truck operator when he\'s about to hoist/hoisted your 3 up - if he has not put on the safety chains and/or the brake lights on to your car, the tow truck operator must lower your car down and allow you to leave. You only then get a parking ticket vs. parking ticket plus towing charges (which adds up - especially if they tow your car at 11:55pm and you pick it up at 12:01am - you get charge one day storage fee - happened to a friend). What may happen at this point is either the tow truck operator/parking authority guy/police officer will tell you there is an \'admin fee\' (like $40) to have your car lowered - there is none (unless something has changed in the last two years) - tell them stop with the BS (carefully many tow truck drivers are bikers) and lower the car. If you\'re ever downtown at around 3ish - watch how fast tow truck drivers will have a car hoisted with saftey chains and brake lights on when they\'re towing cars from the street. This is from my uncle, who\'s a tow truck driver (This probably only applies when Metro Parking Authority/Metro Police are getting your car towed - it may not necessarily apply on private property).

Ouch, that sucks.
